Searched for tea rooms on a whim for a different and fun activity with my daughter (age 7), sister, and niece (age 7). We tried calling a few local places but they had no availability. When we stumbled upon Lizzie Rose, the woman Bobbi answered that she hadn’t had any reservations that weekend, and wasn’t even in the restaurant, but would be able to go in and throw a nice tea together— she said “I may not have everything but will make it nice”). Despite her efforts for hospitality, the fruit and vegetables served were beyond acceptable to serve and beginning to turn (broccoli on crudités plate had mold on it). The watermelon actually tasted fizzy meaning it had spoiled. Finally after an hours wait, she served a tiered platter of bites (which she repeatedly mentioned takes time and was something she threw together due to the lack of customers that weekend— even said she didn’t have a ton of produce since there was no sense buying it just to spoil). Collectively on that tiered platter was maybe a single PB & J cut into 4 triangles and/or hearts, a ham and cheese sandwich, a cheese and Mayo sandwich, a cucumber sandwich, and chicken salad sandwich. The bites were followed with thawed, premade eclairs and cream puffs. My biggest shock was the final bill. This was our first experience at a tea room, so we didn’t realize a priced menu wouldn’t ever come. There was not a single menu provide that indicated price. I was trying to be courteous through her efforts of sub par, and at times, what appeared to be spoiled food, but I was beyond disgusted by her outrageous prices for what was delivered.
I think her hospitality to host was without question, but the actual quality of food and then outrageous and hidden prices were enough to ensure I will absolutely never return. Two adults and two children resulted in a $160 day— $50 for two little girls to be served fizzy/spoiled watermelon and a heart shaped PB&J. Outrageous for two pots a tea and a few sandwiches cut into small shapes, following spoiled fruit and vege. I wish she would’ve just said it was a slow weekend and she was not prepared to accommodate bc she clearly wasn’t in a position to do so. And despite trying, I feel she took advantage, served sub par food, and our afternoon was really ruined.
I blame myself for not speaking up, but also tried to give her efforts the benefit...
Read moreI was really disappointed after looking forward to a birthday celebration for 5. We drove to tuckerton from the shore. Had reservations-when we arrived the place was closed. After reaching the owner by phone she said she didnt have us down yet when I made the reservation she said make sure you call me if you are not coming as I go shopping the day before. I was speechless. She said she was spending time with family which is fine but really could she have called and said she had to cancel our reservation or said I am sorry . I dont believe she didnt have us down for our reservation. She may have forgotten but is that how you run your business? I used to love going to Lizzie Rose and wanted to share the experience with my sister in law. I dont usually leave reviews but this one was...
Read moreThis is an intimate venue but I felt it was uncomfortable. The seats are real tight, there's no room for dancing, getting up during performance is frowned upon, entering the performance slightly late isn't allowed between songs, there is nearly no food & zero alcohol on sale. It is BYOB but I had no idea from their website. I suppose this could all be fine if that's what your looking for but it's not the type of venue I'm used to or enjoy. I'd consider going again but there's really better music venues around southeastern, PA that offer the...
