Stopped by this tiny operation after hearing good words about it. This place makes up for its small size with a huge heart for everything Italian and the warmth that is extended to its customers. Papa D’s has a counter with four chairs facing the kitchen and a couple of seats to the rear, at the counter Dominick, his family and staff make you feel like if you were sitting in your grandmothers kitchen. They gave everyone a taste of what was being freshly made, all before we even glanced at the menu. Great pride was taken at sharing these family recipes with everyone. Papa D’s specializes in array of classic and their own original Italian Hero’s. We tried the meatball parmesan, with homemade mozzarella, chicken cutlet with vodka sauce, chicken marsala with prosciutto and I had the broccoli rabe with roasted pork and provolone. All were served on delicious and freshly seeded Italian bread, all the ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality, piping hot and utterly mouth watering. It was hard to choose from the many different and exciting choices of hero’s so I need to get back here as soon as possible. Papa D’s specializes in catering and to go, hopefully they can find a way to fit some more tables in. Can’t say enough good things about this place and the wonderful hospitality, also try the homemade tiramisu and take home some of their...
Read moreWe were hungry and were craving some homemade meatballs, so we drove over to my Nonna’s house….oh, wait..that wasn’t Nonnna’s house…that was Papa D’s!! Walk in and immediately handed a sample of home made rice ball with vodka sauce…amazing! Ordered a meatball parm and husband had the “ Big Frankie” ( grilled meatballs, fried onions, banana peppers on garlic bread). While we waited, we chatted with the owners ( just so kind and fun to talk to) and were served a sample of tiramisu ( homemade of course, and to die for!). The sandwiches came out on the most beautiful crusty, yet soft bread….seriously hadn’t had this good of a bread since forever ago! The meatballs really did remind me of my Nonna’s ( in fact…they may actually be better, sorry Nonna.). The sauce, the fresh mozzarella, the bread, the conversation, everything was perfection! Walked in thinking we’re having a couple sandwiches and walked out with rice balls, zeppoli’s, tiramisu, and 2 extra sandwiches for our daughters for later ( btw, they were nice enough to deconstruct the sandwiches into small containers so the bread wouldn’t get soggy before they ate them!). This little town needed Papa D’s! We will 100% be back again and again and will make this our go to spot when we need a little “ family time” and amazing food… just like Nonna used to make! Thank you Papa D’s…you really...

I ordered 2 buffalo chicken cheesesteaks without looking at their menu. When I got home after picking them up, I noticed it is served with fries pepper and onions. I called the restaurant and while dialing I saw the menu they sent me home with and I realized I was the one who was wrong for assuming the way the sandwich came
The very nice ladies told me to bring the food back and they would replace with a (plain, which is how I will order now in the future hehe) buffalo chicken cheesesteak
It is exactly what I was hoping for! 5/5 for the finely chopped chicken, nowhere around here does it like this and trust me I've been looking for the best within a 25 mile radius (so far) of Manahawkin
This place takes a win! I will be back!!!
