Horrible, pre-packaged Cosco tasting potato salad. Also, horrible management/customer relations skills. I SPECIFICALLY asked if they made their own potato salad and the girl (who was training a new hire) said that it was made on site. Our order was to go so by the time we got home and discovered the nasty, mass made, corporation potato salad from hell, I didn't have the energy to drive across town. When I called, I was nice while explaining why I hate potato salad that comes in a milk carton. The girl that I was talking to admitted that they did buy it in bulk and they spruced it up by adding stuff to it. That’s like putting lipstick on a pig. While I was talking she handed the phone over to the owner and he just hung up on me. Boy, they really know how to deal with the public. I have lived in Tucson since 1987 and only tried them once. It's nice to know that I really didn't waste much time. I'll just stick to real Italian Deli’s like Viro's Italian Deli/Bakery or Tony's Italian Deli. I can live without their slimy potato salad and customer service. After originally posting this review I received a barrage of attacks from what seemed like Fortunado’s family members. Additionally, I received two messages on Messenger from former Fortunado employees with inside...
Read moreThere is a very good chance you’ll miss this awesome Italian eatery in Tucson Arizona when driving down from the Catalina Highway towards Phoenix.
This place was not so crowded when we dropped in for a late afternoon snack, they’re fresh in their prep and that doesn’t mean it takes a long time to be served, the folks behind the counter welcome you and make sure your food is just the way you want it- try the Rueben and preferably have your Rye bread toasted- it’s awesome!! The coleslaw is fresh and I say that because it’s light and not soggy like in some of the other famous delis around town, their choice of cheeses will leave you dumbstruck and spoilt for choice.
Their vegetarian sandwich is just as delicious as their regular meat based sandwiches!!
We were served in less than 6-8 mins and the dill pickle was crunchy and again not at all soggy!! Thanks to the gold service and the even more...
Read moreEww. If this is the best Italian Deli in Tucson, there are no Italian Deli's in Tucson. When I walked in ,first impressions were good. Nice space, pleasant staff. Lots of seemingly nice sandwich choices.
I had the Italian sausage sandwich. It wasn't. The sausage was a dry, flavorless tube of mystery meat. The marinara sauce on the sandwich lacked any depth, and probably came out of a jar from the Safeway across the street. And the green peppers on it were an overcooked mush.
My wife had the wedding soup and 1/2 turkey/cheese sandwich. She said the soup tasted exactly like the Gordon Foods wedding soup that she got at the cafeteria in the Mid-Michigan community college where she taught for 25 years. Sandwich was ok, but could have done better assembled from ingrediates from Safeway.
Seriously, "The best Italian Deli in Tucson"? ...
