We used to go to Rusty's all the time to watch NFL when we first moved to Tucson back in 2007. It has been probably a good 8 years since I moved to the east side of town and while in the area the other day, my son and I decided to stop in for dinner for the first time in that long. We sat in the section to the right when you first walk in, what I would call the quiet, non-bar side. We seated ourselves as directed. The smell of Fabuloso was extremely overpowering and that was all we could smell. We waited at least 20 minutes while being completely ignored by the server taking orders from other tables. It finally took one of the servers bringing out food to another table to realize we hadn't been helped. He said he would send someone out. (Best interaction of our entire visit, by the way.) We finally had a server come take our order. In the meantime, I realized that every single one of the table TVs turned to a news station was on FOX news. To each their own, but not my cup of tea. When the server came back with our drinks, I asked her to turn the channel to anything but FOX news. That was the last time we saw her. A different server brought us our food. We both ordered the salmon dinner. The salmon and potatoes were good, but the sauce and sides left much to be desired. The lemon caper sauce tasted like someone had just dumped a bunch of caper brine in with mayo...there was no lemon flavor that I could taste. I ordered the rustic vegetables as my 2nd side, and they were very overseasoned with oregano, which I thought was an odd choice for a vegetable seasoning anyway. That's all I could taste and could barely stand more than a bite. As mentioned earlier, the female server never came back around to see how we were doing or to fill our drinks. The guy who was serving other tables but apparently didn't see us when we first came in came by to clear our plates and I told him we were ready for the check so we didn't have to wait longer. Unfortunately, the food, lack of customer service (with the exception of the gentleman who had noticed we had been waiting to be served), and blatant tv channel-advertised political atmosphere were so disappointing that we will not be...
Read moreRude staff, good food. Me and some friends were meeting for dinner here and I had never been before. I got there sat at a table in the bar area while I waited for my friend's to arrive ordered a drink. Friend's arrived we decided to move to another table but before we moved I decided to order chips and salsa during happy hour. Server told me I could order once I got to the next table even when I had advised her the reason I wanted to order was because we were about 5-10 mins away from happy hour ending. She advised to order at the next table. Got to our new table and waited right up until 6pm when happy hour ended, I let the server know what the other server had told me and how long we had been waiting. He then told me I could no longer order the chips and salsa due to happy hour being over. "There was no way he could enter the order". Left it at that. That server then brought the first server over directly behind the table we were sitting at and both were conversating about not being able to fulfill request in not a great manner. Kind of rude and disrespectful since I had already told them okay. The rest of our dinner our server was rude and gave attitude the whole time, asking for napkins, plates, silverware, extra ranch was like pulling teeth. With gasps and faces being made by the server. My friend's I was there with were even concerned and pointed it out. Very...
Read moreBEST WINGS EVER!
I recently tried the Honey Hot wings here, and honestly, they were AMAZING! The sauce was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, and the wings themselves were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside—just how they should be. I also got a basket of fries, and let me tell you, they were SO good. Well-seasoned and crispy, they made the perfect side to balance out the wings.
My boyfriend ordered a few other things, and he couldn't stop raving about how great everything tasted! We were seriously impressed by the quality of the food—everything was on point.
That said, there was a bit of confusion when it came to reservations. When we called ahead to ask about booking a table, we were told they weren’t accepting reservations and it was first-come, first-served. But when we got there, every empty table had a reservation sign on it. It was a little weird, especially since it was a busy day with a lot of people there for the basketball game. I’m not sure if there’s some sort of insider thing happening or if we just got some bad info over the phone.
Overall, though, the food was so good that I’d definitely go back, even with the little...
