I'm a Tucson native and eegees was my first job in HS, so I've got that ice in my veins. I was super stoked to hear the original owners opened up a "new old eegees" in Slice and Ice. Overall it didn't live up to the hype, but there are some bright spots:
All in all, I'll go back. Probably not as soon as if all these issues weren't there, but I love supporting local and nostalgia and this is both. I just know that when I go, I'll get a drink, fries and ranch, and a sandwich and leave the...
Read moreOn the many occasions we have eaten here since it opened, the food has been very good. However, there needs to be some attention to their drive-through especially on Friday nights, because this seems to be an ongoing problem after reading some of the other reviews. We waited almost 40 minutes in the drive-through, with only two cars in front of us, before we made it up to the window. Initially, after waiting 15 minutes, we called from the car to see if there was a problem. We were told that they had started to clean up and didn't expect a rush. We were in the drive-through before 9 PM, and their closing time is at 10 - unacceptable, especially for a weekend night. When we got up to the window, the teenager had zero customer service skills and was very rude to us. We spoke to the manager, Nathan who was very nice, was just too young to handle his position. We left without even getting our food, resolving to not return. Normally, we support small businesses and small business owners in Tucson, because they are going the way of the dinosaur as all these California corporations move in. But not having a manager on premise that can handle situations like this, and also being told the owner is never there, I have no desire to support a small business owner who doesn't care enough about his own business to be hands-on. (specifically, we were told no one was allowed to contact the owner, except for the...
Read moreI love Slice and Ice; my whole family does. We prefer it over Eegee’s. I come here weekly for lunch, normally getting a cheese/veggie pizza, salad, and fries since I’m vegetarian, always having a great experience.
Well, today I stopped by for lunch, ordered my veggie pizza and fries, and got my food - I didn’t think anything of it. But when I got to work, I noticed they gave me a sandwich with meat in it instead. I was already back at work, unfortunately, and it was my mistake not to double-check my food, but I was in a rush. I called when I got off work, trying to explain what happened, and the young woman who answered the phone was extremely rude, insinuating that it was my fault for not noticing I didn’t get a pizza box. I continued to get no help and decided to bring my receipt and my uneaten sandwich back to Slice and Ice to try and resolve this. I didn’t know it was going to be such an issue getting something they got wrong fixed. I pulled up to the drive-thru, and the same girl who rudely answered the phone was the person helping me. She grabbed my bag and receipt, said nothing, and closed the window. She starts talking to her coworker, who then opens the window and says he’s going to rectify the situation and give me the correct order. Why not just say it was a mistake to begin with and spare me all the bad customer service? This experience has me not wanting to go to Slice and Ice...
