Cool Hand Luke's Steakhouse — Restaurant in Tulare

Came in last night around 4:30 with a party of 8. Our waitress took about 20 min to even come get our drink & app order. She offered to bring us waters, never once asked if we would like drinks. So then waited about another half hour after dropping our bread and waters off to get our orders. The food came and 2 of our people did not even get their food! The other 6 of us were waiting to eat because that is the whole reason we went to a restaurant was to eat together and enjoy each others company. I’m not kidding when I say it took about 35-40 mins for them to get their food, we had to track the waitress down to ask about it. By the time their food came out, ours was cold, my steak was hard and not cooked the way I had asked. My baked potato had cold butter on it that was lumpy, meaning my potato wasn’t even hot enough to melt the butter that was on it. Worst service of my life. The couple that had waited for their food had asked if they could possibly get it comped or some kind of compensation for the service, they were told they could get 50% off and a desert. The waitress said she would put in for a brownie Sunday thing, then comes back 20 min later to ask if that’s what they wanted? So another long wait. Our waitress seemed to either be drunk or under the influence of something else because she was terrible. She was unfocused, forgetful, and terrible at her job. Our checks came, we all promptly gave our cards and she took about another 20 mins with our cards…. Mind you, the restaurant was not busy, I spoke to the manager about this and nothing was comped.. I will not be returning to...

What a straight disappointment. I took my guys there as a thank you for their hard work. This was the most expensive semi-mediocre meal I have ever had.

The restaurant was almost empty, but we were told 20 min wait. OK. FCFS seating in bar. We took that. Waited 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. Took drink order. 15 min for 3 of the SAME cocktails. Wait again. Someone else asks us if we want apps. We order. Wait about 10 min for those. Not bad. Had the onion blossom (hot, crunchy, tasty horsey sauce - best thing we had all night) and the seared ahi tuna (looked like it had been torn apart, not sliced. Ugh. But decent otherwise. )

Half way thru apps, someone takes our dinner order. While we are finishing our apps, they bring us our check. Um, what?? The 1st server says, oh, thought you were ready. I told him we didn't even get our meal yet..

5 min later, we are informed that they are out of baked potatoes. How does that happen in a steak house?? We sub for loaded Mashed.

Another 10 min and food arrives. I had the cowboy prime rib. No joke, 1/4 of the meat is a solid block of fat. The filet is done right and looks OK. The ribeye looks like it was dragged around the kitchen floor and burnt on the grill. Mashed potatoes are definitely from a box. Horrible and grainey and bland.

After about 5 or 6 min (decent check back time) the server comes over. Asks if everything is ok. I indicate that I'm upset that my steak is a 1/4 fat. He says, well that's the way it comes and walks away. I give up...

Went in tonight (Friday) and couldn't understand why we weren't being seated right away when there were tons of empty tables. We over hear that there are only two servers working. Now why would a restaurant of this size only have two servers on a Friday night. It took 40 minutes to be seated all this while the hostess allowed a party of 4 of her friends to be seated before others. Apparently they accept reservations for their friends and not normal patrons. She (young blonde) kept apologizing for the wait saying her manager wouldn't let her seat anyone and kept telling the people who had drinks that she wished she could drink with them. The food.: We order the calamari appetizer and are served something that is paper thin and crunchy and does not even resemble the flavor of calamari. The beans were room temp, the veg beef soup had no flavor and the meat was like jerky it was so dry. Our waiter only saw us two times. Once to take our order and another to bring the check. We sat for a good 30 min with empty drinks. My boyfriends food was horrible. Shrimp over cooked potato not warm. My steak was the only good thing that was served on our $100 tab which is why I gave one star. We will not be back, complete waste of money. CHL used to be good but they just keep getting worse and worse. Sad. Tulare needs to get some better restaurants. I don't know the guys name who brought our drinks and took our appetizer order but he was actually a great employee. I think he was...
