The very best biscuits around. Bar none. My wife and I have been visiting the Downtown Cafe for years as we used to come for the JD BBQ - and now we live in Winchester so we are able to visit a lot more often! Prices are very reasonable and we have always received excellent service. Comfort food at great prices. I have tried the balogna, sausage and bacon. The sausage is excellent, and so is the thick cut bologna. The country ham is delicious as well. The show stopper is the biscuits though - and for 99 cents go ahead and add one if you opt for the toast and grits. The grits are served buttered and they are excellent. You can get breakfast all day here, but one day we went at around 11 so I ordered the pot roast plate which comes with two sides, desert and coffee for under $9 - a deal! The pot roast was so tender and delicious! I ordered the white beans and beets for my sides, and received two smaller bowls with the sides. They included onion for the white beans (they obviously have eaten the food before - nice....) and a generous portion of very good pickled beets. I can only imagine how good their hamburgers are - gotta try one someday. You won't go wrong with choosing the...
Read moreMy food was delicious and our server was wonderful. The owners, not so much. I’m giving them 1 star because of them. They were jerks because my friend had asked for no mushrooms in his omelet due to a food allergy. The waitress even wrote it down on the ticket when he ordered it. He had to return his plate 2 times because they put mushrooms in it and then they got upset because he wouldn’t eat it. Instead of correcting the situation, they made some rude remarks and expected him to pay for his breakfast. I feel sorry for the waitresses that work there after seeing how this owner reacted to someone calling out their mistake. I sure hope that they didn’t make the waitress pay for his meal after we left. Will...
Read moreA disgusting experience. From the dead plants in the sink beside the silverware, to the roaches crawling over the table napkins behind the counter, this was a very disappointing brunch experience. Being a native of tullahoma and hearing good word of mouth reviews for this place, I spent my Saturday morning forcefully trying to eat even the bacon, which smelled like old meat and tasted like a filthy grill. Even the eggs were done poorly (how do you screw up eggs). Despite all of this- they have their health score of 100 framed on the wall! They...
