Tulsa has some amazing restaurants, and Cow and Cabbage has joined the ranks, as far as I am concerned. We reserved the table at the front of the restaurant. Close by, we noticed a larger table, which I assume could be a community table. The dining room shared an area with a market that sells unusual pastas, rices, jam, and other high-end, unique food items. It also has some in-season fresh food, milk, and cheese; then, there are pre-made frozen items, frozen meat; and plenty of choices in a refrigerated case.
The menu was small, and it apparently changes often, depending on what is in season. Two people in our party do not eat meat, and they found the menu challenging. One asked for the potato gnocchi without chicken, which was not a problem, and the other person chose some veggies from the prepared food case.
Cow and Cabbage has a limited bar, simply because it is so small. Their cocktails are highly creative, though. I enjoyed a Peach Whiskey Sour that had three small hearts made from bitters floating on the top. My husband enjoyed a Margarita made with hibiscus.
Everyone loved their entrees. The potato gnocchi was tasty, served with plenty of fresh herbs. The fried chicken turned out to be a single chicken breast that had been flattened served with potatoes and green beans. The salads were exciting and well dressed.
Upon arriving, we were promptly greeted by Sophie who showed us our table. Our waitress was helpful with suggestions for dinner, dessert, and wine.

Namely, with the food. The menu was limited, but even so, there were a number of "misses" on the execution, leaving the quality and experience wanting. The bread appetizer was not fresh, with half of it dry and displeasing. A risotto that was dense and stodgy with middling flavor and somehow with a decent amount of grease at the bottom of the bowl. This was far from a fresh and well-executed dish. It was something of a relief the portion was notably smaller than my fellow diner's dishes. Even the zucchini cake for dessert, presumably loaded with vegetable that should give it way more moisture than average, was another dry, less than fresh experience with middling flavor.
Given the other establishments that the owners of this place also run, it's ultimately a disappointment that the polish on this place is so very lackluster.

Read moreWe went and tried Cow and Cabbage tonight and I have to say, Linda and Lisa know how to make excellent food. We walked in without a reservation and were immediately sat - Linda sat us at the community table (a large table designed to be shared by multiple diners) downstairs. They have tables setup in front of the grocery area, which is fun to look at since they carry so much local stuff! Alyssa, who was our waitress, was amazing - Linda told us to try the beet salad (which she said was her favorite) It was divine. My partner and I split the biscuits (came with a cherry chipotle jam, and sweet butter) It was scrumptious. My partner had the farm salad, which he said was very good. For entrees, I had the steak frites (the cocktail cherry liquor sauce that came on top was heavenly) and my partner had the burger, which he said was yummy. Overall, we loved our experience at Linda and Lisa’s new place - can’t wait to go back and try the catfish (which Linda says is the best...
