I lived in the North Dallas area for over 22 years and regularly frequented several of Mi Cocina locations around us with the Frisco Star location being my favorite. When I first moved back to Tulsa in 2020, we checked out the Tulsa location and sadly did not have a good experience, but one of my good friends that loves this location suggested it for a early dinner with our daughters this past Tuesday night. I was reluctant at first but since it had been over 3 years, I decided to give them another try for I absolutely loved the North Texas locations! We decided to sit at a table in the bar area and our bartender/waiter was amazing!! I wish I could remember his name for he was extremely attentive, personable, and provided us with impeccable service!! Of course we ordered the mambo taxi margaritas, which were just as amazing as they are in Texas! We also had a couple orders of nachos which were really good. They definitely had an ample amount of beef and toppings and we couldn’t even finish them even though we were splitting them! Enrique was the manager on duty and he also stopped by our table several times to check on our satisfaction with our visit. He too was very friendly and personable. I’m very thankful that I decided to give this location a second chance for they definitely redeem themselves in my eyes and are now just as amazing as the north Texas locations!! I guess my first experience was just an off-day for this location, which I understand can happen from time to time, plus waitstaff can also have a huge impact on the experience too. I will definitely be going back again sometime soon with my husband! Especially since I had forgotten how amazing the mambo taxi margaritas are! I wish I would have taken some pictures right as our food came out, but we were talking and I didn’t realize until we had eaten half our food. I will definitely take pictures next time to add...
Read moreDon’t know where to even start…. Was really disappointed at our overall experience. My wife wanted a margarita so we had some questions about the different ones that they offered. The server was inexperienced, which is perfectly ok, so she brought over the bartender. He was equally clueless as well…we were asking about ingredients and he was more concerned with the caloric intake. My wife ordered a skinny margarita and it might have been the worst margarita she has ever tasted! We politely sent the drink back and stuck to water with lemon as it tasted much better. We decided to order steak and shrimp fajitas as our entree. When the food came, the plate was not sizzling as it probably had been sitting in the window waiting on a food runner. The tortillas were store bought (gross) and the shrimp were previously frozen baby shrimp, and the steak was 50 percent fat. We took a few bites and decided it was best just to chalk it up as a total loss and move along with the rest of our night. I showed the manager the plate of fat and said we displeased with our food and overall experience. He said he would comp the bill and we could be on our way. The bill came and it was for $12, which was the cost of the drink. The server mentioned that the manager would just charge us for that as he felt like he had to charge us for something!
We will never go back and I would avoid this place if your looking for a good...
Read moreThis was our first, and last, visit to Mi Cocinia. We recently moved to Tulsa from Georgia and wanted to go to a good, authentic Mexican restaurant and didn’t know where to go so we picked this place. Over priced and very bland food. We paid $38 for ribeye fajitas for myself and it was enough steak for about two fajitas and the fatty meat laid on top of a big pile of onions with two little pieces of green pepper. NO FLAVOR at all! Not even a hint of salt. Nothing! It was awful. I asked for sour cream when I placed my order and of course it came out without it. The waitress said she’d go get it and kept walking by our table saying “I’m getting it” which she did, 15min later when my food was cold. My husband ordered poblano chicken enchiladas and I could tell by looking at it that it wasn’t going to be good and he said it was so bad after he took his first bite. My husband always leaves a clean plate and eats everything and he just couldn’t eat it. The only thing that we liked was the chips and salsa and the rest was bad so this place is a big fat NO for us! There’s a ton of Mexican restaurants in Tulsa so we will do our homework and find another one to try. We wasted $75, including a tip, on this dinner date. That doesn’t sit well with me. We’re the type that will spend $300+ for a great dinner at a nice restaurant and not blink an eye but I’ll lose sleep over spending $75 on bad food or service. Find another place...
