Was my wife's birthday, I made reservations week in advance. We get sat a huge table instead of a more convient 2 person table that sat empty till we left. Our waitress was inattentive and distant. We don't drink, so ordered tea and diet coke. Seemed like they had to go brew and make the tea fresh, took 15 minutes after ordering our beverages to recieve them. I asked for lemon, was given one with the first drink and never asked if i wanted more, or given more for each refill, which took forever to get. I will give a positive and say, the giant meatball appetizer, was delicious and perfect for a two person plate share. They give little plates to cut up and put appetizers on, me personally the meatball is definitely a plate sharing dish, while being able to have eye to eye conversation while indulging in something good. Meatball was a little cold in the middle but the maranira sauce made up for it. We ordered half salads to be brought out after the appetizer and before our main course. I got the chop salad, came with 1000 islands. If you like big macs from McDonald's, then this salad is for you. Spot on sauce for it. Was good, but thought about a big mac the whole time eating it. My wife got the Ceasars salad and I got a taste, both of us were satisfied with it, very tasty. She order the 7oz tenderloin, asked for well done, was medium well. Seemed like they short handed the butter when cooking it, tasted like burnt butter and as if they added seasoning to it only afterwards. For 57 dollars, was tender, but tasted like burnt butter, and salt. She did have to ask for steak sauce on that one. She left half uneaten, because the severity of pinkness. It was supposed to have came with mashed potatoes, during the order my wife asked for a side of brussel sprouts, we were asked if she wanted to substitute the potatoes for sprouts, we clearly said no as we were going to share the sprouts. Her potatoes were forgotten and on the ticket, clearly the brussels sprouts were never substituted and we paid 9 dollars for them. I ordered the herb crusted seabass and steamed vegetables and the disgusting, horrible creamy spinach. I took one bite and thought, wtf is this. Boiled spinach, bland with melted cheese, Nothing creamy! Please, stay away from it as it is a 10 dollar side, not worth 2 dollars. Every other Friday we try a new restaurant and do date nights. So I've had a few local seabass orders this year and this one was by far the worst. The sauce was tasteless and I'm all about a seared crusted skin before you work your magic. I'd give the size of fish and taste a 5/10. Not worth 52 or 54 dollars. The steamed vegetables were a joke and variety mixture to me, and only my personal opinion, could've been better. Came with a few slices of hard carrot. 3 asparagus bits. Could've been more options and flavor. Ticket was 174 for the listed items. I'm all about nice restaurants and going back for seconds. This is one I do...
Read moreMy husband and I went for my birthday last night. The atmosphere was great. Our waitress was okay, but she never asked if we were celebrating anything like I heard others asking their tables and then she disappeared for a bit after entrees came out so I couldn't ask her to bring something I decided I wanted and just ended up eating my entree without it (parmesan cheese for the meatball). I thought the relish tray was a very nice touch and was substantial enough that we didn't feel like we needed an appetizer. Our cocktails were perfect. My husband loved his wedge and filet, the meatball was delicious and so big, I needed his help finishing. Two disappointments, though...the creamed spinach was dry and bland and really had no discernable cream or salt in it. Second, I got a piece of the raspberry cheesecake to go. It was pretty obvious this wasn't made in house, which is fine if it's good, but this wasn't. Not only was it still frozen in the middle when I ate some of it an hour later, but it was very bland. If I had eaten it while still at the restaurant, it would have been even more frozen and I would have sent it back. The "raspberry sauce" was sickeningly sweet and more like a raspberry syrup. At the price point we were at, I really was expecting at least a fresh raspberry sauce or coulis. The three tiny raspberries that were thrown in the container with the cake didn't do much to improve the flavor. I wish I had taken my husband's suggestion to swing by the Cheesecake Factory on the way home for a piece of my favorite cake there! 😕 We'll give Jimmy's another try, but will definitely avoid...
Read moreI read a review of Jimmy’s Chophouse in the Tulsa World. It was a positive review and I saw that they offered one of my husband’s favorite pies, coconut cream. Since it was my husband’s birthday in a few days, I really wanted him to have a delicious meal at a nice, quiet place. So I made a reservation online noting on that it was for his birthday. When we arrived, Lily greeted us at the entrance and wished him a happy birthday. He said he was looking forward to a piece of their coconut cream pie. Her face fell when she said they had run out of coconut cream pie so he said, “let’s just leave and go somewhere else.” I insisted we stay and give it a chance. As the evening wore on, and the food was good, he got a little bit happier. At the end, our waitress, Savannah, cleared the table and put two forks on the table. My husband quietly said we were not having dessert. She smiled gently like a Madonna and said, “just wait a minute.” And then the manager, Lindsey, came out with a huge candlelit piece of coconut cream pie. It turns out that she is also the manager of the Wild Fork, where they make the pies served at Jimmy’s. She had driven over to the Wild Fork at Utica Square while we were eating so that he could have this piece of pie for his birthday. The pie alone was worth the visit to Jimmy’s as it was the best coconut pie I have ever eaten. He said it was the best birthday he had ever had. It brought me to tears that she had gone to that extent for two ordinary people. We were both glowing as we left and woke the next morning with a grateful smile on our faces thinking of our...
