The restaurant should be called Mo’s Famous Burgers.
The cheese burger combo meal is the favorite here. A quarter pound or better beef patty, cooked on the flat top long enough to get a little crispness going, covered with a slice of cheese, with fresh lettuce, chopped onion and pickle wrapped in a soft burger bun. Add a generous portion of crinkle cut fries, and a refillable serve yourself soft drink to make for a bargain priced at $11.90. The restaurant is a neighborhood favorite and the burgers are the main event. A perpetual daily special. Many other reviewers have a long relationship with the other special, the Country Fried Steak Sandwich.
The little old guy that owns this restaurant is named Mohamad. He has a small efficient operation in the kitchen. You can watch him work behind the steamed-up plexiglass partition. Looks like a mad scientist with his face mask on, intensely focused on creating a new species
He shows the beef patties no mercy. When they start to sizzle on the hot flat top grill, he pushes down on the burger press with all of his weight (which ain’t much) driving the heat into the patty and ensuring that nice crisp finish. At the same time, he is watching the fryers closely as the raw potatoes evolve to a pleasant golden brown. Everything comes together as it has for thousands of times and a great meal is delivered to your table.
Mohamad said the business was named Karl’s when he bought it and it had changed owners a couple of times before that, but it has always been Karl’s. He said it cost too much to get a new sign, so he just stuck with the name.
Karl may have originally made the restaurant famous, but he is history. Mohamad has been keeping it famous. Let’s call it “Mo’s Famous Burgers” from now on.

Read moreI gave this place three stars, but in many ways, it deserves an extra half star for the extra efforts you'll see in the details. It's a classic example of the non franchise restaurant started on a shoestring and kept alive by the grit and tireless efforts of an entrepreneurial owner. The food is consistent and the quality good. The most creative thing you'll find on the menu is the blue cheese bacon burger and it's worth a try if you like blue cheese dressing. Its your basic, inexpensive, no frills burger and fries place ,run by friendly people who appreciate your patronage. Lots of local Jenks High school pride posters decorate the walls, and there's a window to the kitchen so you can sneak a peek at the magic happening on the grill if that's what you're in to. That was always a plus for me when I was a little kid, and now it serves to give me some satisfaction although a couple of seconds is about all I need. The owner / cook is a gregarious, patriotic, enthusiastic American, with a penchant for conservative politics. Not surprisingly, you'll usually see the Fox News channel on the 42 inch flat screen that sits high in the corner above a row of comfortable clean booth seating. You'll order at the register and someone usually brings your order to your table, even if it's to go, unless the lunch time rush is overwhelming. On a slow day, the owner will be delighted to join you in a discussion about the value of hard work and the under appreciated beauty of freedom we enjoy here in the U.S.A. if you re in South Tulsa, and in the mood for a good non corporate cheeseburger or a basic gyro and fries that are always served hot as the sun still glistening from the oil, this place is a solid choice. If that's on your list of gastronomic possibilities, then by all means, go there. They need your support and work...
Read moreWell i really wanted to like this place because it seemed like it would be a ma and pop shop with good food. Well the effort was there but it falls short. The store was supposed to open at 11 they finally showed at about 11:30. Then it was a one man show taking orders and eventually getting to cook the food. I did feel for the guy since it was just him but it lead to him not knowing how to operate his register and then when he figured it out going to cook the food. Finally another employee showed to help and things started rolling. They seemed to get orders out decently after they got back on track. The food looked good but was extremely generic. Almost as they stock the cheapest ingredients they can muster and sell to the public (reheated frozen food) should of realized this considering the food was out and nothing was prepped since the restaurant opened late. Unfortunately i had a bed experience and will probably not return i hope the famous isn't from being...
