I got to blame this one on my brother, for month he has been urging me to come here but he kept asking me to do so on a Sunday at 7:00 am. Sunday at 7:00 am I am still hard at sleep, So this better be good! I finally agreed, he even offered to pick me up! So there I am at 6:30 waking up putting something on. He picks me up and in less than 5 mins we made it. It is so close to my house!
We.came here for one thing and one thing only; Menudo! Please go ahead and Google it because it is not sutable for the faint of heart. This is as Mexican as it gets. It is a soup with hominy and pig intestines. I know, I know it sounds gross to some or most people, and I agree. But hear me out! When it comes to dishes of this caliber I take a bullet for all of you so I can try it and then decide if it is a legit dish worth giving a first try. So I don't just recommend that you eat it but I am also careful to help you find the best place to try it at so that it can actually be good!
This is the best place yet! Please come and try it. This place is primarily a tortilla making factory and on the side this places sales so.e classic meals. Well, they have the best Menudo in town so far. And believe me when I say this, I have had it from a loooooot of places and so far have been disappointing. NOT HERE! You will have your very first best experience trying this soup with the hopes that...
Read moreThis is my favorite place for street tacos in Tulsa. You should understand this is a Mexican hole in the wall. Most of the people speak Spanish. But that being said, the value can't be beat in my opinion. They make tortillas there (as the name implies). Fresh corn tortillas are so much better than store bought. They at enlist and fluffy and they don't crack when you fold them. So first thing is your tacos will be on freshly made corn tortillas. They have about 10 different meats to choose from that are all traditional Mexican choices. Knowing the Spanish names for the meats will be an advantage here. Second the salsas are freshly made and also the traditional Mexican style. Yes it's hot. The thing that I really appreciate about this place isn't that the taste is so amazing. It's that it's so traditional...and...wait for it... cheap. The tacos are straight up $1. No B.S.. no special deals. They are just a buck(tax included). You order 5 tacos it's 5 dollars, period. I'm sure you can go other places to get better cuts of meat, maybe better prepared, or even better tasting. But you will certainly have to pay for it. This is traditional Mexican street fare at its finest. I enjoy the authentic experience. The restaurant isn't particularly nice. Not much ambiance or music even. It's straight forward, no fuss, food. And it's...
Read moreI went to buy some barbacoa. They ran out, understandable since I went there a little after noon. I decided to get some asada they were out, ask for a different meat they were out. Finally got pastor tacos, while waiting what do I see but a cockroach crawling down the wall. I quietly told the cashier. And she got someone I assumed was going kill it and no...they got someone else a tiny lady that just did a little dance and went back to work. The roach crawled to mixers that were for drinks. And then near their prep station and very closely to the food I ordered. And to top things off the cashiers were nowhere to be found to give me my order. Never going back there and strongly advise other to stay away. I will be reporting this place to the health inspectors and OSHA...
