I finally found you, Waldo—and I’m still deciding if that’s a good thing. For a lot of adults, though, this place feels like a continuation of childhood, almost like graduating from McDonald’s into the McDonald’s-for-grown-ups version of Waldo. It really is a little bit of everything: a drive-thru, a bar, beer, booze—and yes, chicken. But here’s the catch: it’s only chicken. And while I like chicken, I couldn’t help but wish they’d expand the menu. If Waldo served burgers, I could easily see myself stopping by once or twice a week. That would really complete the “grown-up McDonald’s” feeling. As for the chicken sandwiches, I have mixed feelings. The portions are generous—maybe too generous. The chicken itself was extremely juicy, which some might love, but for me it was over the top. The thick cut made the bread soggy and fall apart until it stopped being a sandwich altogether. I ended up pulling out the chicken and eating it with fries, leaving the bun behind. Next time, I’ll try a different approach. The atmosphere, on the other hand, was great. I really liked the décor; it gave me the same nostalgic energy as a place I might have loved as a kid, but with an adult personality that matches where I’m at now. The TVs scattered around with different things playing added to the lively vibe. Prices felt fair for what you get, so no complaints there. Service was okay. The girl at the counter seemed a little sour, maybe just tired or having a long day. Since it was my first time, I wasn’t prepared for the fact that there’s no big menu on the wall. That made ordering tricky, and I could tell our quick scramble to choose was testing her patience—but really, what else could we do? Overall, Waldo has a lot of potential. It already captures that fun “grown-up fast food” energy, and I’ll be back to give it another shot—hopefully with a slightly different experience, and maybe even a burger someday.

Chicken wings and chicken tenders were delicious. Great service and tables were clean. Going back for sure.

Date of visit 10/22/22 Just another Southern Fried Chicken franchise chain. Cutting to the chase……Comparing southern fried chicken, Waldo’s doesn’t come close to the big four (I am sure you can name them). Compared in flavor, appeal, and deliciousness in the fried crust, I’m sticking with Popeye’s. Waldo’s does have some things going for it. My wife made the right call. The crispy chicken Scratch Salad was very good. Much better that Chick-fil-a. Her comment was that there was almost as much chicken in the salad as there was salad. It was good. If you eat here it is recommended. Originally, I was going to get the chicken strips and a side. I noticed the chicken strips was not battered and fried the same way as the bone in chicken. So, at the last minute, wanting to get the proper Waldo’s chicken experience I went with the ¼ white meat plate. A wing, breast, two sides and a small sweet cheddar muffin (That ain’t no frick’in biscuit!) For the sides; greens and cucumber tomato salad. The cucumber salad, boring. Now the greens, possibly some of the best I have had. Tender great flavor and lots of bacon. That leaves the chicken. When you first see it, it appears to be incinerated. It is very, very well done. The brine or breading adds to the dark color of the finished chicken. It is just on the edge of being over cooked. The coating retains lots of oil from the fryer. Too much. Not the most desirable example of fried chicken in the chicken restaurant industry. It is not for me. The slow roasted chicken is likely a much better choice. Great, friendly, fast service! Tonight, July 29th, 2020, my wife and I went to Waldo’s and ordered through the “drive thru.” This was our second visit to the Restaurant the first visit (we ate indoors) was approximately two weeks ago and our entree’s were wings and onion rings. That visit, the food was good, tonight’s visit food was a huge letdown! On tonight’s visit we decided to try the fried chicken so we ordered the eight piece “Bucket O’ Bird” with 3 sides and cheddar biscuits. We asked them if we could have “all dark,” to which they responded, “that is not an option.”

The fried chicken was overcooked and extremely spicy, it was worth 2 out of 5 stars. The sides we chose were as follows:

  1. White beans rating 4 out of 5 stars,
  2. Collard Greens rating 5 out of 5 stars,
  3. Coleslaw rating 5 out of 5 stars.

-The Cheddar Biscuits were Awesome rating 5 out of 5 stars.

-Two Lemonade’s. rating 5 out of 5 stars.

The Onion Rings tonite were terrible (too spicy) rating 2 out of 5 stars. - on previous visit, the onion Rings were terrific, rating 5 out of 5 stars.

I’m pretty upset about tonight’s visit and at the total cost of $50.00 (included a 15% tip), I doubt we will ever go back!

Not sure if tonight, the crew was “off their game,” or if the Restaurant is struggling with poor quality control. I’m kind of suspecting the latter after reading other reviews. They seem to be up and down (good & bad) which is not a positive sign for a new Restaurant. In this “COVID-19” environment our society is in, even well established Restaurants are struggling. Quality control, and consistency can make, or break, a Restaurant. At fifty dollars a “pop,” I won’t be taking the...
