Today was the day to finally give this place a try after some friends recommended it for Chinese takeout.

To be fair, my friend did warn me that this wasn’t a sit-down restaurant. While I understand that shouldn’t factor into my expectations, I also can’t completely ignore it—because sometimes, the way a place is set up says a lot about what’s happening behind the scenes in the kitchen. But let’s talk about the food first.

Food

The food was good. My order was wrong—I had asked for spicy shrimp lo mein but ended up with chicken. My wife ordered orange chicken but got pork. However, to be fair, what we received was still tasty. My son’s sesame chicken? Really good.

Service

This seems to be a family-run business. The gentleman taking our order was kind and helpful in navigating the menu. He spoke perfect English, so I’m not sure where the miscommunication happened since we were both looking at the menu and pointing at our choices.

Atmosphere

As I mentioned earlier, there’s no dine-in option, which is fine. But while waiting for our food, I couldn’t help but notice the place was a bit of an organizational disaster. Cleanliness wasn’t a priority, which immediately raised a red flag—if this is how they maintain the front of the house, what does that say about the kitchen?

I decided to check the bathroom, and sure enough, the pattern continued. It wasn’t filthy, but the small details were telling. For instance, the hand soap was so watered down that when I tried to use it, it barely had enough cleaning power to do anything. It’s little things like this that start chipping away at my confidence in a restaurant. If this is the standard for what’s visible, what about the things I can’t see?

Once I noticed these issues, I couldn’t unsee them. And as I sat there with my food, I found myself unable to enjoy it the way I should have.

Conclusion

So where does that leave me? Honestly, in a bittersweet place. The mix-up with my order? I can overlook that. But can I ignore the fundamental things that make a customer trust a restaurant? Cooking good food isn’t the only job of a restaurant. It’s about crafting an experience—one that engages all the senses: what we see, what we feel, and what we taste. When a restaurant operator understands this and finds the right balance, success comes naturally. The customer will never forget them.

I won’t forget this experience either—but not for the...

Ordered over the phone using the menu that came in the mail today. After I got off the phone, I started thinking about the total price I had been quoted and wondered why it was so high. I called to ask. Seems the prices had gone up but they hadn’t been able to cancel the contract for the mailer.

Ordered pork egg roll—very tough. Would not get again.

Also got the barbecued boneless pork spare ribs. Tough, weird sauce, and weirder meat—never had pork spareribs textured like that before. It was a generous portion, but since neither of us cared for them, that wasn’t really a positive thing.

Our entrees were pork egg foo young and mu shu pork. The egg foo young patties were good—neither greasy nor burned. I wasn’t at all impressed with the “gravy,” but I would order again for the patties. I would love to have some bean sprouts in them.

The mu shu mixture was pretty good, although there was a lot more sauce than I am used to. However, the “pancakes” were horrid. They were square and thin—looked more like egg roll wrappers, but egg roll wrappers would have worked better. I have never had egg roll wrappers leak through like these pancakes did. The bottom side was immediately wet and greasy. I used two (one for each of us). They could not be picked up. We ended up opening them and eating the filling out of the pancake and leaving it behind. If I ever ordered my shu again, I would totally skip the pancakes.

But, I think that if I ever order again, it will just be the...

Ordered 5 entrees, 2 orders of cheese wontons, 2 orders of dumplings and 1 order of egg rolls. When we called in the order we told the guy word by word and number by number what we wanted. When it finally got to us they gave us one wrong entree, we asked for the C10(sweet and sour chicken) but they put down C9(shrimp lo mein) we called to get everything fixed and the guy answers and we try to tell him what was going on and he kept talking over us, telling us that we said the wrong order and told us to send the menu to a number. Well we took a picture and sent it but it wasn’t going through, so we called back and it was a lady. The lady did the exact thing the man did. At first she wanted us to drive to pick up the order, then she wanted us to keep the food and buy another entree (like people are made of money!) then she finally agreed to send the driver with our correct food and for us to give the wrong food back to the driver. Honestly the food wasn’t good for all the trouble and money, the rice was way over cooked, the lo mein was soggy, the sweet-and-sour chicken and sesame chicken were just soggy and just not good. On the other hand the cheese wontons and...

So I decided to try this restaurant since they have shrimp egg rolls and the place I normally order from Thai Taste don’t have them. I ordered the chicken fried rice, shrimp egg rolls, and cheese wontons. The rice is oily no taste, with this weird looking dark chicken. I tried to eat it, but just couldn’t get it down due to the taste. I called the store hoping I would get the same great customer service I received when placing the order by the man I spoke to initially. This time a lady answered and tried to convince me that no one else thinks the rice is nasty and that I should be happy with it also. She then told me she wasn’t giving me a refund and yo send her a picture of the food. How am I supposed to send a pic to a restaurant? She then hung up in my face. I don’t want to go to jail, so here I am. If I go up to that store for sure, I am going on vacation to the resort. Be careful ordering from this place.

My husband and I decided to eat here on whim. The guy was very welcoming and polite. My husband let the man who took our order decide for him what to get and the man threw in an egg roll and fried rice on the house for letting him choose. He got the sesame chicken and said it was delicious and flavorful. He said the egg roll was delicious and not watery or greasy like other places we've been. I got mongolian beef and I have to say they put plenty of beef with the vegetables (usually I order double beef but it's not, the veggies were sauteed to perfection and the flavor was top notch. We also got fried cheese wontons which also were amazing. We both agree this is the BEST chinese food we've had. We definitely will be returning.
