We have shopped here for years and never had a bad experience. Today I went to see if they had any new window sizes from Window World as we been replacing our windows in a rent house this way. They had 2. I told the “helper” IF these are the same exact size I will take them both. He said they are. I told him while he was getting them inside for me, I was going to go look at the ovens. I went inside talk to Tonya at the front desk about the oven and also about the prices of the windows as I have been buying the same sizes and this week they are $299 when they have been marked $179-$199. She said there isn’t anything she can do about price because it depends which manager prices them. All is fine. Ok I get it, I’m still buying them, She showed me the ovens and I told her I wanted one of them also.
We walked back up to the front desk to so I could pay out. I literally pulled my card out of the credit card machine when “the helper” came up behind me and said “i just want you to know they are not the same size”. Of course I’m shocked…I just paid $600+ for 2 windows! I told Tonya what I had told him outside that I only wanted them only if they was the same size. She tells the assistant manager Tisha what is going on. Tisha tells me there is nothing she can do, all sales are final. I said..literally just paid and have not even taken them outside. I reiterated what I had told the “helper”. She said who was it that helped you? I don’t know his name, She said “was he a little Mexican”. I said, yes. She then “laughed and said he doesn’t even speak English”. Almost as if she was laughing that I couldn’t have had a conversation with him. I told her that he did speak English to me and we understood each other.
She just saying it was my fault, I cannot rely on someone who is there doing a community service to help me.
The demeanor in how she treated the situation and the fact of how she talked about the “little Mexican” is appalling. Absolutely disgusting.
I would like to add, Tonya was every bit of amazing and her customer service...
Read moreIn the Seattle area we built a house and had multiple rentals that we counted on Habitat for great deals for remodels and upgrades. We helped friends find and buy an old farm and then turned them on to the Habitat habit. Over the years we’ve donated truckloads to them, and when we moved, we donated the stuff we didn’t want to move with us. Since moving to Tulsa, we’ve been searching for places to get good quality furnishings and building supplies for the house we are currently working on. I’m sorry to say that we have had better luck at auctions and garage sales than at the Tulsa, Broken Arrow or Jinks Habitats. EVERYTHING is priced high, not just in the building supply store but also the Thrift store, often times on par with retail for a one off or broken item. Several times I’ve asked for a discount on a broken item and the answer I get is a polite “We don’t negotiate on prices.”, and yet, the last time I shopped there, the manager gave the guy in front of me 25% off on his purchase “because the item was on the floor for all of a minute”. Obviously, my husband hates the place and only shops there as a last resort, it’s gotten to the point that if I really want something, I expect to pay close to retail and only purchase something I can’t find anywhere else. I wish I could say that the Tulsa area was an anomaly, however, we found the same high prices at the Palm Coast and Jacksonville FL stores. Prior to fixing and flipping our FL house, we were in AZ, where the pricing was more competitive. We will continue to shop garage sales, Thrift stores, FB Marketplace, auctions and retail before we make the Tulsa area Restores a...
Read moreI've been so SO frustrated leaving this place on multiple occasions. Occasionally you can find a good deal, but overwhelmingly these things you can buy for not much more brand new from a box store and then have a warranty and the ability to return it.
This last visit I spent AN HOUR sorting through looking for unmarked doors and drawers I could cut up and use the wood from for a project. They have a sign in this random cabinet door/ draw section titled 'Standard size cabinet Doors & Drawers', then underneath, '$1 unless marked'. When I got to the register the darked haired lady who sets prices said some of the cabinet doors I selected would not be $1, because they were not standard size. I explained they were not marked up. They all came from that section and they were side by side with others the same size that DID clearly had the price marked up with Sharpie. She said sometimes employees forget to mark items. It would be nice it this store showed more integrity... I mean this stuff is donated, right?? ... that's not much of a hit. I explained how long I spent looking for stuff I could use, and how frustrating it was to have the price not as expected. I just ended up leaving without purchasing anything in my cart.
This same type of thing has happen to me multiple times. I've taken light shades from the section marked '$1 for small $3 for large', and the same lady told me they should have been marked up. She then researched them up online and told me a...
