Mean Old Man's Review of D'Casa / West Main Street: My family loves this place and frequents it as regulars, so I am compelled to visit with them here from time to time. My observation is based on experiences from several different visits. Firstly, They call this establishment a "bar and grill", but this is not an adult oriented place so don't come for the atmosphere or expect to wind down here after work. This place is like Chuck E Cheese's on a sugar rush, except for here the adults clump together and zone out by sucking down longnecks and margaritas instead of pizza and soda, while their rug rats run amok screaming at the windows and swinging from the light fixtures. Every pee wee, little league, soccer, and cheer team in town is usually here in uniform, in loud, full effect on any given evening, as it seems to be a favorite place for coaches to drag their excitable squad after games. Usually the bar area has some screaming toddlers as well, wailing out and being ignored as their parents imbibe various cocktails and stare into the TV. The serving staff hurries about, looking overworked, bewildered and frustrated. Food is ok, if the server can understand you and get your order correct. Menu could stand to have a little more variety in my opinion. The fajitas are one of the best choices and the amigos dip is tasty. I have noticed there are a couple of different managers depending on which day you visit, and each one seemed really stressed and irritated each time I have spoken with them. I mean, your blood pressure kind of shoots up just walking into this place when you start to soak in the high-strung atmosphere. There are 2 different dining rooms in this restaurant. I think it would be great if they sat the adult parties in the side with the bar, and put the families and wee ones in the other section. This is usually not the case, as they tend to crowd everyone into the bar side first then spill over into the other area if needed. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind being around families and children, but I am just saying, if you are looking for a nice tex mex place to hang out and have a few drinks and chippies with some friends and wind down from the day, you would have an easier time doing so in the bouncing ball play room at McDonald's than you would here. Stay...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time there in New Albany, they said that place is the best Mexican food around.. I taste tastes of different dishes; kinda food network challenge.. First of all, the entrance is intimidating on my opinion, that moment when you realize that the place you're about to enter it's fancy and expensive.. Lol.. I spot couple valet parking guys, which is weird it's plenty of parking spots available.. Anyway.
My table wasn't clean at all.. I felt weeks of service there.. Menu is too much.. My appetizer was good, the sauces are OK.. As a main dish I ask carnitas, rice was good. The sauce in enchiladas ( red ones) was disappointed.. Kinda sweet.. I know for a fact all over south tortillas are sweet.. That's why enchiladas have weird taste..
Breaded chicken was good..
Basically my complaint is about the cleaning and the service.. Restrooms are nasty.. This is my very personal opinion, if you don't put attention in the cleaning of common areas like glasses in the entrance, the smell in bathrooms, tissue and soap available all the time, etc.. What can I expect from your kitchen..? Are those meats, specially chicken has the right temperatures in the fridge and in the cooking process..?
That's the part that annoys me when I walk dirty places.. The cookers has the right knowledge to handle food.. ? Forget about the time, I don't care about time, it's not fast food restaurant.. I assume you are cooking from scratch... Are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the worst restaurant!!! Hostess walked to the table, dropped menus, and kept walking!! Didn't say a word didn't slow in her step, nothing. Wasn't sure if we were supposed to sit there. The waiter came to the table and took an order. NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN!! Ordered the Monster Burrito at $18.99. Hubby got Buffet at $9.99. Everything on buffet dried out and looking old!! Got my burrito and ordered with extra sour cream and guacamole. Why? Because he said it don't come with that. The chorizo was cooked so long it was worse than cracklins!! There was quite a few shrimp in it, but it was cooked so long I chewed for a long while before I could swallow!! No taste, really bland, no flavor for a Mexican restaurant!!! Had to ask someone for 2 go boxes cause the waiter got lost in the kitchen. (I guess) Waited and waited for Bill, never came. The waiter must have fallen when he got lost in the kitchen!! Went to register, GO FIGURE, SHE HAD OUR BILL!!! NO WONDER PARKING LOT ALWAYS EMPTY!!! SAD SAD SAD. Being a former waitress, we ALWAYS leave a tip. Something!!!! This time...
