Golden Dragon — Restaurant in Turlock

Bad service with at best mediocre food.

3 of us went Saturday night around 7 and there were lots of empty tables. We were seated quickly but then looked around as waitresses kept walking by us. Finally flagged one down and she said she wasn't our waitress but would go get the one for our table. Then a waitress who we haven't seen yet comes over and asks us what we want. She had a hard time answering basic questions about the menu but the worst part was that she answered the phone right in the middle of taking my order! At that moment I saw two people at the front desk and two other waitresses. The call sounded personal.

Our order was finally placed and the appetizer we ordered of foil wrapped chicken came out. It was gross. The chicken inside tasted like it was canned. That was served with a chunky red sauce that made things even worse. After a while one of our entrees came out dropped off on our table by a different waitress. But only one entree. That was followed up a few minutes later by the ice cream bowl of rice delivered by yet another waitress. Then yet another waitress, yet again not ours sets another plate on our table without saying a single thing. We figure it out but at least tell us what you are putting on the table. Finally 15 minutes after the first entree had been delivered, the final entree is delivered by our order taking waitress.

The salt and peppered shrimp was soggy. The Peking shrimp had larger slices of ginger than water chestnuts. The worst was the szechuan style scallops that smelled like urine. My brother agreed that the dish really smelled bad. They were kind enough to take it back and I ordered general Tso chicken that wasn't offensive.

Overall this was a horrible dining experience. Maybe it was an off day. But with the combination of mediocre/disgusting food and crappy service I will never be returning to Golden Dragon....

I've been here maybe 10 or more times since 2013. The food is amazing that part is great. I just want to say I'm not really a picky person and it takes alot to offend me but the staff here is very odd. Every single time I have been here the service has been awful and the people there are rude. I like the food so much that now and then I feel like going even with the rude service but the last time we were there was like... idk. We waited maybe 40 minutes, my husbands food came out then we waited for mine. His was hot so I said go ahead and start but then it was like 20 minutes later so like a full hour of waiting and they asked my husband if he wanted the check and we were like what? We asked about my food and they looked confused as if I'd never ordered anything. We ordered together from the same waiter at the same time I spoke clearly and asked for one thing to be changed and the waiter acknowledged etc. Idk the bad service just not worth it anymore but they do have carry out lol so maybe we will...

We got seated quickly because it was almost empty. One lady was really nice and polite while our main waitress was passively rude. The music was literally one track that endlessly repeated. The food was disgusting and unpresentable. The hot and sour soup was way too peppery for us to enjoy the taste. There was no beef in our "tomato beef chow mein" and there was too much sauce for its own good. The sweet and sour shrimp also had too much sauce and batter and heavily dehydrated us. Some reviews said this restaurant is the best in the area. We were just passing by the area, never having visited here before, so we can only imagine how terrible the other Asian cuisines are.
