TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE : let me start off by saying that I use to frequent this place after my graveyard shift with my coworker often. Today I decided to finally take my husband and my toddler (I figured they would enjoy it, as much as I did.) We saw that there were no booths open and noticed the patio was open, we asked if we could sit out there and if it was okay to have a high chair. ( we figured that it was the best placement for a high chair since all the tables are very crowded inside and there were no available booths inside yet.) When we walked out there, I saw the table was filthy and the chair had a dead cockroach. 🪳 So we decided to walk back in and attempted to sit at an open table. As we sat I noticed a booth open up, I asked the waitress if we can switch to that table since I know it would be easier for my toddler. Unfortunately, she said it was being reserved for someone else. About 5 minutes later we saw another booth open up, and asked her if we could switched to that one. She proceeded to tell us that the rules of the restaurant is that we CANNOT switch tables. I was very disappointed because we do had not order any food. At that point, we decided to leave. I was very disappointed with their customer service. We will never be going back there again and I will definitely make sure none of my friends/ coworkers go...

I've tried the Tuna Melts here a few times, but they just don't measure up to the classic Tuna Melt. Crispy toasty on the outside, warm and melty on the inside! - Hot Rod Diner's version of a Tuna Melt is more like a tuna sandwich on toast. It tastes okay, but not really a Tuna Melt in the classic sense. Just my opinion. 🤷
HOWEVER... This place is a local favorite, and for good reason! - The food is always good and I love the 50's Diner theme (including the music). The service is always prompt, friendly and efficient. Also, if you're a Coca-Cola lover (like me), this is one of the few Turlock restaurants that actually serves Coke products (instead of Pepsi). This is a huge plus in my humble opinion. 😉 The menu prices seem reasonable. My only complaint... I wish that they stayed open for dinner, instead of ONLY...
Read moreLove going to the one in Ceres. So we figured we give this one I try. I know that place can get pretty busy. That this was 4th of July and there wasn't a lot of people in there.I would say about half capacity. They told us to sit anywhere and when we sat down.It took over twenty minutes before anyone even greeted us with drinks or mends. I actually had to flag someone down and ask them for assistance. When we finally got the opportunity to place a drink order.I ordered a shirley temple and he ordered a sprite. The waiter came back with the Shirley Temple and said what was the other drink again?I can't remember. I ordered my eggs poached And they. Were served to me in a soup cup with water in the cup like soup. The food was poor l quality And the service even worse. Definitely won't...
