Tried Brick & Spoon while visiting Tuscaloosa recently and looking for a good brunch place. Based on the reviews, my husband and I decided to give them a try.
Here is an honest review for those of you looking for a little more of an in-depth review.
The location: located in downtown Tuscaloosa it’s in a prime location that you can walk around downtown and check out all the other restaurants and shops before or after you eat or even if there’s a wait. 8/10
Service: Staff were great, and we had great service. But the layout of the place is a bit odd for a breakfast place. 10/10
Food: I ordered the banana Foster’s French toast and husband got the Traditional Eggs Benedict. The French toast was good, had flavor, but was extremely sweet so much so that I couldn’t even eat half of it and they doused it in the Foster’s sauce. Plus I opted out of no powdered sugar and I was so glad I did once I tasted how over sweet it was per my personal liking. So if you’re into major sweets this is for you, if not - I’d recommend you try something else. 6/10
The Benedict missed the mark for my husband as well. He said it was good, but all he could taste was the cured ham on it because it was so salty. Lacked flavor. 5/10
Place vibe: It was a good vibe. Indoor/outdoor relaxed seating. But it was a little loud as the concept is very open with tall ceilings. 6/10.
Overall, the food in our opinions wasn’t that great and we were a little disappointed based on others reviews here. As we’ve had much better other places. So next time we’ll opt to go somewhere else. From an honest and open perspective we’d rate this place overall 3/5. However.. Give it a try if you’re feeling bold, it may be your cup of tea. :)

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Brick & Spoon and I have to say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. The restaurant has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a casual breakfast or brunch. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating.
The menu at Brick & Spoon offers a wide variety of breakfast options, from traditional favorites like pancakes and waffles to more unique and creative dishes such as the shrimp and grits or the crab cake Benedict. I had the pleasure of trying the shrimp and grits, and it was absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of savory flavors and a good portion of shrimp.
Another standout was the service, which was prompt and attentive. My drink was refilled frequently and the staff checked in on us regularly to ensure we were enjoying our meal.
If you're looking for a delicious breakfast, I highly recommend Brick & Spoon. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is perfect for a casual breakfast or brunch. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant and highly recommend...
Read moreLOVED this place. Unbeknownst to us, we arrived right before closing, but were welcomed in and served delicious foods anyway. It's like your grandmother's home cooked breakfasts got tossed in a bag with a gourmet chef's and shaken up. When you open the bag, their menu is what pops out. My youngest has an egg allergy, so she ordered the biscuits with marmalade and ate every bite! I had something called Farmer's Market which involved grilled veggies, poached eggs, and English muffins, and hollandaise sauce (wow!), and grits with roasted corn. I know my oldest had something delicious, but the highlight was this coffee drink with some spirits (they are over 21!) topped with lots of whipped cream and served in a glass mug. We all just sat and stared at its loveliness for a minute before they drank it! Portions are large and the decor is really for lack of a better word: cute....
