I had spectacular experience due to Shamaya. She help me navigate the printers upstairs. She was patient and resourceful. There were a lot of people asking her questions pertaining to the computers and the printers. Her demeanor did not change one bit. I can tell Shamaya has a high emotional intelligence.
I dislike that the library is so cold. It was so cold, I couldn't concentrate downstairs. Other than that it's a great place to get some work done. There are an abundance of chairs and tables. The wi-fi connection is stable. It even works outside in some areas.
Then there is the Friends of the Library behind the library, where you can buy second hand books at a discounted rate and make book donations.
In addition, it's located across the street from Tuscaloosa Riverwalk so you can take a break from work, take a walk, and grab a...
Read moreI used to love this place, it was my favorite hangout. They got a new director a couple of years ago though, who seems to be intent on dismantling the library. Most of the professional librarians have left or been fired or whatever (nobody seems to know what happened) with untrained, inexperienced non-librarians replacing them. Try getting a recommendation for a good book at the fiction desk, for example! But the selection of books is now so poor I guess there's really no need for someone who can make recommendatons. So sad.
I would agree with the previous reviewer in saying thank goodness for Miss Kayla in the children's department. On the other hand, I find the folks at the circulation desk friendly and efficient.
Anyway, I guess we can hope for another turnover in administration that might resuscitate our once...
Read moreI used to love the library. I grew up going with my parents and now want to bring my daughters. However, I feel like the past couple years, the library has gone downhill. There are hardly ever books on the new release shelves and the selections on the shelves are old and outdated. The staff seems less than helpful and seem miserable to be there actually. I miss the smiling faces that used to great me at the help desks. The children's department seems to be okay still, but still not as good as it used to be. My girls do love Miss Kayla though. I do enjoy talking to the familiar faces at the front desk like the young man that's been there a while. One of the newer girls though is rude and short and very off putting. I don't know what's happened to the library, but I wish somebody would do something to restore it to what...
