The Wine Market — Restaurant in Tuscaloosa

I have been going to Wine Market for the past couple of years and consider myself a huge fan of this cute little place. I am constantly recommending visitors to go and enjoy the great experience Wine Market has to offer. The past two visits I have had at Wine Market have been atrocious and have officially turned me away from this establishment. Despite the high quality wine and charcuterie boards, the service makes me want to leave as soon as I arrive. I have had the same waitress twice and she confuses simple orders then pawns her mistakes off on the customers. I am then forced to pay more due to her lack of understanding. On top of that, we barely even receive attending to as we can visibly see the waitress sitting on her phone behind the bar. The most recent time I came wanting to celebrate a birthday and upcoming graduation. The waitress only came three times in a span of close to two hours. She never came to refill waters, forgot a glass of wine, and extra food we had ordered. This was also on a relatively low attendance night at Wine Market. When it came time for the check, I wanted to leave as quickly as possible. We were prepared to spend double or even triple what our final bill was, but weren’t even given the chance to order more with how infrequently she checked in. Additionally, whenever one of us went to the restroom, we could see our waitress sitting down at the bar on her phone. All of this combined made us very unsatisfied and has us thinking twice about coming back to what used to be our favorite place. TERRIBLE service, I visited with friends on a $10 wine and champagne special BECAUSE of the special. After ordering Prosecco because it is used interchangeably to champagne. We were not informed that the bottle they chose to serve us was over $50. Only after drinking 2 bottles did they bring a $108 check. A picture of the bottle is advertised on their facebook stating that it is $10. I asked to speak to a manager and the employee rudely said she would call, which she did not. I think it's pretty obvious that if you were ordering wine or champagne on a day there is a special, it is BECAUSE of the special. I contacted them later and did not receive a response. Very disappointed in their rude employees, lack of service, and common sense. I will not return and would highly recommend others to do the same. So, we went here for our 2nd girls day/night out. Which was two big things for me (1. My second time here & 2. My first time painting a wine glass) Yes!!! I will give her 100k starts if I could. The owner made herself known and gave me wonderful feedback meaning; all positive vibes. Have you notice the menu penmanship? OMG! It’s hers!!!! Isn’t it beautiful 🤯). Allow me to explain how amazing she is; She catered to a friend who liked to join us, but doesn’t drink. Making her nonalcoholic drink look like ours. That’s top tier customer service for me. The atmosphere and the love that was shown is unmatched. I would return again and again. I’m not sure WHY she doesn’t have and keeps a line out the door with a waiting list. Yes!
