Super fun place with plenty of options!
Met up with friends for drinks and food to catch up. The mess hall is modeled like a cafeteria with plenty of food options, a stand alone full service bar and various tables placed in the middle. Seat wherever you like and I enjoyed the diversity in food. However, the evening I came (a weekday), a good chunk of the restaurants were closed.
The stalls that were open were Sushiya, The Little Greek, Fonda Moderna, Slapfish and I think Vaka Burger. I decided to go to The Little Greek and got myself the Falafel pita. Came with a Mediterranean slaw, which was a nice touch for crunch. The falafel was wonderful! Very filling and was quite generous with the tzatziki sauce and chopped tomatoes.
Also grabbed a classic margarita at the Drink Bar. Bartender asked if I wanted salt rim or tajin. Not a huge fan of salt, but the tajin was a nice alternative! Drinks are stiff and packed quite a punch. Total was $12.
Overall experience, was fun to explore so many options and I like that you could grab various snacks from different vendors if you plan to be there for quite some time.
Parking can be a little confusing, but you can choose the parking structure or the various lots surrounding the area. The structure had the gates opened when I arrived around 6pm if...
Read moreThis review is specifically for the atmosphere as I have no complaints about the food or service. I've tried most of the food places at the Mess Hall and they're all great. As far as the atmosphere, I strongly suggest to management that they get rid of the basketball hoop play area they set up, as it is not being used properly. The kids take those basketballs and start dribbling and throwing the balls all over the place. I had to constantly watch my back to make sure a ball wasn't falling on my head or my food. That's a hazard and potential for lawsuits right there. Not to mention how annoying it is to have noisy and haphazard basketballs flying and dribbling all over the place. Before this, the atmosphere at the Mess Hall was great, perfect for unwinding after work or during the weekends. Now it's more stressful to eat and hang out here than it's worth. My friends and I come here very often, but I'll stop coming if I need to watch my back for flying...
Read moreThis is a relatively new area just north of the Disteict in Tustin. It's a food court, but there are some excellent food choices here. Thus far I have tried the Mexican place (forget the name atm) and Slapfish. Both did not disappoint. The portion size at the Mexican place is generous. You could probably share a meal and be good, and be satisfied. Very clean flavors. The sauces, too are house-made and great. A little heat to a lot of heat, whatever you like. Slapfish I already knew of. Been to the one in Laguna several times but HAD to try the lobster taquitos because I had never seen them before. But, good. Just plain good. Greek, Feied Chicken, Vietnamese, Sandwhiches are all also available here. Also tried the Lost Bean coffee place here, and was pleasantly surprised. They have coffee, tea, and juices so plenty to choose...
