First time here, my mom found out of this place from one of her friends and said it was better than ding tai fung. Its closer to us so we decided to give it a try.
Modern open deisgn seating, some of the tables/chairs against the wall are kind aclose together so youll be near the next group of people, its a toght squeeze other than that the theres bar seating, bar stool style tables and seats etc.
Slightlight disappointed For Xao Long Baos, it didnt have much flavor. we got Seven Gram XLB Shrimp XLB Pan fried Dumplings Scallion Pancakes seafood fried rice Calamari all that about $60
The XLB all tasted the same, the soup had a weird after taste and waste as flavorful, the fillings all tasted the same. even the "shrimp" tasted like the regular XLB, could not taste the shrimp.
Scallion pancakes were crispy, doughy and pretty good 7-8/10 for scallion cakes
Calamari 7/10, the ones we got were alittle over done, it was crispy but the squid was alittle rubbery.
Panfried dumpling same filling as the XLB, so not much taste difference.
Seafood fried was didnt have alot of seafood in it, it had alot of corn, carrots, peas and 1-3 pieces of shrimp and small scallops but oily rice.
Comparing it to Ding tao Fung, Long Xing Ji Juicy Dumplings, Paradise Dynasty, and others. but with these other restaruants. You can taste the different ingredients across each dumpling and their soups are flavorful and refreshing to taste.
I guess im being too harsh, its good for where its located and cheaper than the other places i mentioned its just didnt sit well went we've tased other XLB restaraunts.
Quick in a pinch craving, i guess you could give it a try. if youre willing to wait for a Ding tai fung table and its not too far as a drive them go for the latter.
There is noodle and bowl options we may come back to try, maybe those would be better but for XLB needs some work
The hot teas and flavored tea options...
Read moreGot here around 530PM and maybe 2/3 of the restaurant was full, got a seat right away. Around 6PM people were on a wait-list as the restaurant was full!
I didn't order Broccoli but they brought it to my table so I thought it was complementary for all tables. When I got the bill, it was a menu item for broccoli with oyster garlic sauce. Highly recommend avoiding the broccoli menu item, it's just steamed chilled broccoli with a watery sauce that doesn't stick to the broccoli, 100% not worth it.
The items I DID order were very tasty.
Seven Grams XLB was good. Not great since half the XLB broke but luckily I was able to catch the soup in my spoon. Overall, good XLB, which it held it's shape better though. The spoon is quite small here.
Wonton with Chili Sauce was tasty, but I wish the chili sauce was spicier. Flavorful and well balanced. I liked it more than the XLB here. I used the chili sauce for my beef roll also and it went well together!
The beef roll came out crispy and it was super filled with meat and cucumber and scallions. It was delicious and great to share.
The Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup was wonderful, tasted like a chinese chicken soup with tons of noodles, beef, and mustard greens. I got the medium spice level and I wish I got the spicy spicy level instead. The broth is rich and hearty, another dish that is great to share, they provide...
Read moreIf you like salty food, this place is not for you. We normally don't put much salt on our food, so we're accustomed to eating that way. With that said, the food was still pretty good. It seemed like they focused more on the flavor of the ingredients rather than salt or msg. We had the ham fried rice, Seven Grams XLB, scallion pancake, beef roll, and spring rolls. The ham fried rice was ok but very greasy and not much flavor. The Seven Grams XLB was delicious! Not very much salt, but the flavor of the dumpling dough and the broth inside were great! Scallion pancake was just like any other, and the beef roll had just the right amount of Hoisin sauce. The spring rolls were really good, and the dipping sauce was fantastic! I also had a honey lemon black ice tea, which I recommend trying. If we were to go again, we'd order more Seven Grams XLB, the beef roll, and the spring rolls. Service was really friendly but slow. No one ever checked if we needed anything, and we had to flag someone down for boxes and our bill on a slow Monday night. Plenty of free parking in the strip mall and not a long wait at 8pm...
