Hear ye Hear ye
We will now commence with the review of the brand new Laynes Chicken Fingers restaurant here in Tyler, Texas. As a chicken finger connoisseur myself I hope this provides some insights into your decision on if you want to try this location.
Tried it for the very first time with my wife this Wednesday around lunch time. First impressions
Greyson: “Location was clean and parking lot attendants and staff were attentive and very quick to help guide us to where we wanted to be.”
Lauren: “I think it was incredibly organized. A lot of places do an opening day very poorly where it clogs up the roads, but Laynes were prepared with people who help you go where you needed to be. This was appreciated for being on such a busy road”
Now we move to the second act of the show: The ordering of the fingers
Greyson: “The cashier was quick but not pushy. I felt that they asked all the right questions without rushing us. We got 2 4 finger plates with 2 original and 2 spicy tenders with Laynes sauce and sprites.”
Lauren: “Effective, cashier listened, and order came out 100% correct!”
And now act 3. THE TASTE!
Greyson: Fingers Original: 7.6/10 Fingers Spicy: 7.1/10 Fries: 8.9/10 Laynes Sauce: 8.2/10 Customer Service: 10/10 Final Score: 41.8/50
Lauren: Fingers Original: 6/10 Fingers Spicy: 4/10 Fries: 9/10 Gravy: 7/10 (Didn’t want the Laynes Sauce) Customer Service: 8/10 Final Score: 34/50
Combined Score: 75.8/100 or 7.58/10
Safe to say we will definitely be coming back! I highly recommend you try them out. It is definitely refreshing to see a new restaurant like this in Tyler and we both really hope this one can stick it out!...
Read moreWe tried Layne's today for the first time. I had looked at the reviews prior to going and specifically looked at the negative reviews to see what types of things people complained about.
Luckily, I saw several reviews that mentioned they received the wrong order, which prompted me to look at my order before we left the drive thru. Unfortunately, we were missing some texas toast we ordered as a side. We were able to let them know while we still there and they gave it to us. For their part, they apologized but that does not bode well when there are quite a few other reviews talking about messed up orders. Perhaps what system they use to verify orders needs to be reworked to avoid this problem.
Regarding the food, I was not a big fan. I got the spicy fingers meal. The chicken itself wasn't bad but they are definitely smaller than canes. The fries and toast were disappointing though. The fries did not taste good to me and seemed a little old. The toast tasted like regular bread.
My wife and kids liked their food but I just wasn't a fan. I will say the jalapeño ranch sauce was really good.
Even though I wasn't a fan of the food, I would have scored them higher if they hadn't messed up my order. While it was a relatively small thing in our case, the fact it happened on our very first visit makes me leery about trusting them to get the...
Read moreThis is a 100% drive-thru review (4 times) since opening in Tyler. We live less than a mile away as the crow flies.
Tenders are good; better than their competitors' tenders three doors down the street, but not better than Chick-fil-a. Tenders were hot when we got home. Their dipping sauce is VERY good.
Layne's fries and toast slice were both soggy by the time we got them home. Chick-fil-A waffle fries are the gold standard here.
Also, I would place the toast in a separate envelope outside the main carry-out holder. After sweating for 15 minutes with the hot tenders and fries inside that sealed-sauna plastic container, by the time I get the product home, the toast really is a mushy mess; almost not eatible. As an experiment on our next visit, I will try re-toasting the toast at home.
Also, Layne's is in DP country and not offering any kind of DP products is limiting their customer base. I understand Coke financial incentives, but I feel not offering DP is a misguided decision.
Servers are well-trained and great communicators; I'd say almost on par with Chick-fil-a. The drive thru experience is a bit weird, but okay once you figure out the curving driving lanes.
I may try dine-in food quality in the future for...
