So, I've gone to this IHOP before, and I've had plenty of bad servers or bad cooks. But never have I ever had a service so outlandish as today. I went here with my niece and fiance, it took 5-10 minutes to be seated, which is fine. After we were seated, it took 4-5 minutes for our server to come ask what we'd like. We ordered drinks and appetizers. We got our drinks and our appetizers arrived on time, but after that we didn't get any refills and our server never came back to ask for our order. Eventually we had someone approach our table and FINALLY put our order in. We sat for over 1 hour and 30 minutes waiting, having only eaten the appetizers and no refills. Our order came out and they had it to-go boxes, the lady asked if it was to-go and I told her no it was for here. She then walked away and came back with the food in the to-go boxes and said "we don't have any plates cleaned". I was stunned, I thought it was disrespectful and unprofessional, also trashy. My food was both over cooked and under cooked, my nieces burger was basically throw together. We were waiting to see if my fiance was going to get his order, but another 20 minutes it hadn't arrived. He spoke to a server passing by, and apparently they never made. I was livid. We told them nevermind we don't want it we'll pay for what we have. To make matters worse, the man seated across from us, who came in AFTER we did, had gotten allhis food, on plates, and he skipped the bill. It was ridiculous. They kept asking if we still wanted my finances order and tried blame our server. We told them no we don't want to pay for anything else. I do not blame our server, I blame the management. At some point they had pulled our server away from our table to do dishes, without giving us a new server. We made it very clear we were not upset at our server but the management, especially since one of the managers stood watching us for over 30 minutes and was literally doing nothing, and the cooks. This is experience has soured me towards this IHOP. In all honesty, i shouldve just payed for our appetizers and left. As is, I'm pretty sure I won't be coming back to this...
Read moreWe ate at our usual IHOP in Tyler, TX after a medical procedure. It was at 5:00pm so we were one of 2 customers in the restaurant. Not busy at all on a Friday afternoon. I ordered off the menu - "power pancakes, scrambled egg whites, plant based sausage, and fruit." Just like the menu offered. My husband ordered a Denver omelet without bell pepper. The waitresses didn't seem to know what I was talking about regarding my order so I showed her on the menu. She left. Returned 5 minutes later and made sure I understood that it was "egg whites" on the order. Yep. At least 30 minutes later the place is beginning to fill up and the new customers are getting their food. 45 minutes later we try to catch her and ask her again and again where our order is. She pretends not to hear us until we practically shout at her. Meanwhile I can hear the cook and some of the wait staff talking about my order. "What are power pancakes?" "What is the plant based sausage?" Finally she brings our food with the explanation that "he never made that before." Oh, no. She put the plates down in front of us. My plate had 2 burnt circles of sausage, a revolting oily, worm pile looking thing that was the egg white scramble, and some random pieces of fruit scattered across the center of the warm greasy surface. (Usually, and in the photo, the "seasonal fruit" is in a small bowl.) The "power pancakes" which seemed to give them all such a turn, would have been good had they not been slightly hard and burned on the surface and cold. My husband's Denver omelet was odd in that the cook tossed chopped up overcooked sausage links and what appeared to be burned chopped up roast on top. All in all my restaurant karma is still with me....
Read moreThis location needs some help. New management for sure, and since when is kitchen staff with long hair not required to wear hair nets and gloves, much less an actual shirt!? The manager was in the kitchen in a TANK TOP doing what she could with what she had since apparently several her staff members called in. No one in the kitchen had on a hair net and had hair falling in their faces. I just don't get it. The kitchen is exposed in the middle of the restaurant. This is the smallest ihop I've ever seen and even though it seemed to me there were plenty of people there to run such a small place, they were still very very behind. The chaos and stress in the atmosphere along with the manager picking and choosing who to be nice to on her staff instead of being kind to everyone... is enough to cause anyone to not want to come to work! People kept piling in and the stress just kept building. Not only did I wait 5 minutes on the phone to place an order, I decided to drive there instead. Then I waited 5 more minutes for someone to take my order. Then I waited 30 minutes for some sliders. This location needs new management or new staff that are more dedicated to the job or SOMETHING. Idk how all that works but this place definitely needs a face lift as well. I could tell some folks were trying as hard as possible including the girl who helped me. Others just move slowly around not doing much. They seem to need a rehaul of staff and possibly management, as well as dedicated tasks for each worker instead of everyone trying to do everything at once in a disorganized...
