McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Tyler

Dined in during the busy lunch hour. I get it—some tables were dirty, no biggie, I’ll clean my own. But the real problem? Customer service. The lady at the counter (Betsy) never greeted us, never smiled, never said a word beyond asking if I was redeeming or earning points when I scanned my rewards QR code.

When I cleared our dirty plates and handed them to her, she just took them and turned around. No “thanks,” no acknowledgment, not even a grunt. It felt like she hated being there and wanted us to hate it too.

The food? Typical McAlister’s—fine, nothing unexpected. But service matters, and Betsy should definitely not be the face of the place. Put her in the back making tea, where her bad attitude won’t kill the...

Kids that work there are very nice and polite. The store had a very strong cleaner smell that burned my eyes and almost made me leave before trying the food. Southwest spicy chicken sandwich had zero flavor and a tiny piece of chicken barely covered half of the bread. The jalapeño roll it was served on did not have jalapeño flavor or taste, instead it was just disgustingly sweet highly processed zero good nutrition item. My kids had cheese pizza that was lukewarm, raw at the bottom, and smelled like chemicals. Most likely pizza came from the freezer and wasn’t properly baked, I am pretty sure it was just microwaved. My wife and I have been to McAlister's many times. However, this is the first time in Tyler. We went to the Old Jacksonville location.

The food was excellent, as always, but the service was exceptional.

I did not get the young man's name that was at the register. But as soon as we walked in he greeted us and was as polite as could be!
