Aaaaaah Yamato..... I've had some good times in the past at this place but this one was not as good. We can start off with the restrooms being dirty and not well kept at all. Our chef was good but he seemed tired and said that he was working a lot lately. The hostesses were another thing all together, they were rude and caddy. To me and mine they were polite and nice, but some of their comments about other people, tables, and guests were uncalled for. Your in the customer service industry, not the "im better than you and I dont care if you eat" industry. Maybe if you spent more time caring for customers instead of chasing around your rubber bouncy ball you would be better at your job. Our waitress was good and very attentive, food was excellent and as always we had lots to take home. The feel of the place was drab, the usual clapping and cheering at having eyebrows singed off was not there. It was very quiet, kind of like eating at a funeral home. Ill revisit later to see if it improves back to the way it was.

Visited this restaurant from out of town to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. Could have went to 1 of the 5 hibachi grills that are local to me, but wanted the day to be special so we traveled 2 hours to spend the afternoon shopping in Tyler & dinner @Yomato. The server was inattentive to say the least. Our glasses were empty most of the dinner. We had to ask for refills from another server. Our ramekins for the sauces weren't placed out for the cook, so we didn't get any sauce until nearly everyone had finished eating even though it had been asked for numerous times. We told the server it was my daughter's b-day. It was also someone else's b-day at the grill seated with us. The other guest dessert was brought out. After about 15 minutes had went by, nothing had been done for my daughter. The server forgot! Seriously?!! We had to go find her. We will not return here.

Two in our party and joined 4 others for hibachi grill. Wife and I shared shrimp tempura roll. For lunch we had steak and shrimp with fried rice and vegetables. They offered a $2 upgrade to filet Mignon over strip steak and I highly suggest this option. Steak had a wonderful flavor and was ultimately tender and delicious. It was my wife’s birthday and they surprised her with a pineapple boat desert. Chef was great hibachi cooking and was entertaining.

The food was amazing!! Steve was an AWESOME Habachi Chef who "schooled" us on the history. The only reason I gave Yamato a 1 star is because they allowed this man to walk away from our table that night without the gracious tip we left him. They also gave him a table knowing that he was requested and reserved for a another. We specifically asked for Steve because we were told he was the best and he was. Our waiter, let's just call him Brother T ( you know exactly who you are), told us, " I don't add gratuity to large tables because I like for my customers to give what they want." My mother asked him if the tip would be split between him and Steve and he said that it would. This person also went out of his way to make sure all of the food was not on the set up cart for the grill. Unfortunately, I just found out that this man's money was stolen from him and I wanted everyone to be aware of this theft just in case you gave a tip here and thought it was going to the chef. If you left it on your card then it was split but if it was cash your chef probably didn't get his/her tip it was probably stolen by the waiter like mine was. Brother T, you didn't have to steal the money nor be dishonest. Going to Kawas it's a more welcoming environment anyway. Get yall some (professional) staff and new lighting. I am also still waiting on a response from the email I sent this morning. The owner of this business needs to know that his managers are allowing...

We go to this store exclusively to eat sushi. We have not been disappointed by the food anytime we have been there. I forgot to take pictures but the food is always nicely plated with artistic patterns in the sauces on the plate making it visually pleasing as well. Flavors are always fresh. I only eat the cooked sushi and they will also make it without the sea weed if you prefer. I have family who eats the raw sushi and lives it as well. The disappointments of this store is solely the servers. On the sushi side of the restaurant there is usually the same servers. One male and one female. Neither of them are very friendly and in all honesty they seem to be rushing you to leave. They don't check on you much at all after you get your food as though they want you to simply eat and leave. They stand at the and of the table to serve everyone which means they constantly reach over the plates of the people at the ends of the table. I see that as simply unclean techniques to reach over the plates of others. The female server dumped tea all in my lap once. Never apologized nor tried to make up for it on the bill or anything. We go back for the food. It really is great. Just don't expect excellent service to go with it on the sushi side of the establishment! Because of the food I give it 4 stars. It is that much better than the service. If it wasn't for the food, I would bump it down to...

So to start I love Yamato’s the food is delicious and the entertainment you get at the hibachi grill is fun and light. However last night we took my parents there for their anniversary dinner along with quite a few friends and our hibachi chef “Scot” was awful in my opinion. He was more interested in talking about his vulgar personal life and all of the mothers of his children and their drama than actually preparing our food in a timely manner. He kept going on and on about things he should not discuss with customers and kept getting orders wrong. For instance he kept calling our friend “Grandma” in a durogatory manner and gave her fried rice rather than steamed rice which tipped the balance of everyone else’s portion of fried rice and to make it worse when her fried rice finally came he simply took it from her without asking because she “already got enough rice” she didn’t make a fuss but I could tell it upset her. Then He proceeded to tell us he was old enough to be dating grandmas and that instead of being a mother F-er that he was now a grandma F-er. (Very crude) Now that being said I still enjoy this restaurant and the food I just hope we don’t get the same chef again. I don’t think that he should be fired but he simply needs to change the subjects he discusses and the time it takes for...
