"That is not in my pay grade."

Those were the words uttered by the front desk associate at 1am after my fiancé and I had called to complain about a very noisy neighbor. This came after we called around 10:45pm to ask that the bar across the street lower their music or if management would be able to move us. Apathetically, he mentioned that they typically lower their music around 11pm, however, after listening to this music since the morning, we were exhausted and asked him to please ask them to lower the music.

Now, the issue starts around 1am when I am awoken by loud music. Thinking is was initially our TV, I searched for the remote, only to realize that it was the neighboring hotel room. The individual was speaking loudly on the phone and his TV was on full volume. I call the front desk and, again, he apathetically mentioned he would send up security. After about 25 minutes, I decided to go downstairs to speak with him directly.

As I come down, I explain that I am the person who called for security and wanted to know the status. In the middle of speaking, he rudely interrupted me and told me, "You need to speak up." So I repeat myself and he just stares at me. He never mentions he is sorry or that security should come up in any moment. So, I ask if I can move rooms or receive a refund so we can leave early. His response? "You can early early. But I can't give you a refund, you have to wait until my manager is here tomorrow morning. That's not in my pay grade." Dumfounded, my fiancé and I told him to never say that to anyone again. I explained that what he said and his attitude was beyond unprofessional and he just shrugged and rubbed his eyes while he condescendingly smirking. He said "Ma'am, I'm only telling you our policy." I told him that we did not feel comfortable staying and would like to leave. He eagerly told us he would call us our car from valet and check us out at that moment. I reminded him that we were in PJs and slippers and would need to get our luggage upstairs. I asked from his manager's name, and with content, he reached over for his manager's business card and handed it over to me. I asked for his name at some point and he NOT ONLY told me his name but also proceeded to spell it out for me.

We called three hotels to see if they would take anyone in at 2am. Thankfully, Hilton helped us find a room last minute. They even said they would wait for us to check in so that everything ran smoothly. As we made our way down to the Archer front desk, he didn't say a word to me and checked us out. Valet got us our car, and even though I was on the verge of tears, I thanked and tipped him for helping us. Mind you, this is all on my birthday and three year anniversary with my fiancé.

Upon calling Archer hotel the following day, a woman on the phone let me know that her manager was not in on the weekend (another lie by the man the night prior). She asked if there was something wrong. I let her know the chain of events. If there is ANY redeeming quality of this place, it's this woman who picked up the phone. She was the ONLY person who apologized and was beyond embarrassed. She explained what our options SHOULD HAVE been. She asked for his name. Once I said it, she instantly knew who I was talking about and shared that this individual has received multiple complains in the past. Now, I'm frustrated. Why are you putting someone who is careless and hates their job in an unsupervised shift? What if I were alone? Do you know how unsafe it would be for a young woman to be traveling in the middle of the night alone? Is this behavior echoed by management?

This hotel could not pay me to EVER return here. They ruined my birthday, my anniversary, and have shown no remorse for the cruel encounter.

Stay away from here. Tysons Corner has so many fantastic hotels, including the Hyatt Regency, Hilton, Marriott, etc. They clearly do not care about the guests here. And this man should not work in this industry if he doesn't like it. I have reached out to corporate to flag this individual and...

I wish I could rate my visit zero-stars. This is a review for our attempted stay on Friday, October 20th. My fiancé and I were supposed to stay at this hotel for two nights to celebrate a special day, but did not make it past one. We could not sleep comfortably due to excessive noise coming from an outside beer garden as well as next door to us. The walls are incredibly thin for a “luxury” hotel and because of these disturbances we resort to call the front desk at around 1:30AM. We call and are immediately met with a nonchalant, uncaring attitude regarding our issue. The “solution” was to have security come and ask the next door patrons to lower their music, but security never showed up and the loud music is now coupled with shouting. At this point it is unbearable and we decide to go downstairs to work things out. The front desk person was incredibly apathetic and seemed bothered that we’d even come down in the first place. We could no longer bear this behavior and asked for a refund as we could see no agreement would be reached that night. He brazenly tells us that he cannot do that as it is “above his pay grade” and goes on to suggest that we could just check out right then and that he’d have our car brought around by the valet immediately. WE ARE IN OUR PAJAMAS AT THE FRONT LOBBY AT 2AM WHILE HE SAYS THIS. He could have suggested moving us to another room, checked to see if the Falls Church Archer Hotel location had any openings or even shown a shred of empathy, but instead chose to escalate things to a very uncomfortable degree. We return to our room, absolutely disgusted, pack up and immediately return to the front desk to check out. Before we leave, we ask for a manager’s card and his name to which he, very condescendingly, spells out for us: “Min. M-I-N”. He tells us to call for a manager tomorrow (Saturday) despite there being no manager available until Monday… As someone who has worked in hospitality for several years, it’s shocking and simply embarrassing that this hotel’s level of service and care are this staggeringly low. The Archer-Tysons is a relatively new hotel in an area with plenty of established competition and this is the best they can do? Inexcusable. Book with any other hotel in the area or burn your money. Either are a better use of your cash than...

My recent stay at Archer Hotels Tysons was shaping up to be a commendable experience, marked by the comfort of the rooms and the general hospitality of the staff. However, an unfortunate incident during the Super Bowl night left a sour note on what could have been a flawless stay.

Upon checking in, the front desk staff warmly welcomed me and enthusiastically recommended watching the Super Bowl at the hotel bar. The idea seemed appealing, given the convenience and the opportunity to enjoy the game in a lively atmosphere with other guests. The evening started well, with good service and a great vibe as we settled in to enjoy the game with my client.

As the game progressed, the excitement was palpable, especially with the unexpected twist of the game going into overtime. However, our experience took a drastic turn for the worse at this climactic moment. Just as overtime started, we were abruptly informed by the staff that we had to vacate the bar, despite the earlier pitch that had been made about watching the game there.

This sudden eviction was not only embarrassing but also put me in a difficult position with my client, disrupting what was supposed to be an enjoyable evening. There was no prior indication or warning that this could happen, and the lack of communication from the hotel staff was disappointing.

While I understand that there may be policies or unforeseen circumstances that necessitated this action, the way it was handled lacked professionalism and empathy. A prior warning or at least a more courteous approach in asking us to leave would have made a significant difference in how this situation was perceived.

In conclusion, while Archer Hotels Tysons may offer comfortable accommodations and generally good service, this incident has marred my overall impression. It’s a reminder that hospitality extends beyond just the physical amenities and into how guests are treated in all situations. I hope this feedback prompts Archer Hotel Tysons to improve their communication and customer service, ensuring no other guest has to experience such an unwelcome surprise.

Edit: handled it pretty well. Also next day food...
