We had a great weekend stay at The Watermark Hotel (Tysons) this past weekend for our 7th wedding anniversary. The experience began immediately in the parking garage. We instantly could smell an amazing signature aroma that literally pulled us inside. I meant to inquire about the fragrance but we quickly forgot upon entering this beautiful space.
We checked in later than usual. The front desk personnel was different than who I spoke with on the phone and the person I checked out with was also different. I say this to acknowledge that we only dealt with 3 staff members at The Watermark and all were pleasant and expeditiously accommodating.
The hotel had a lot of modern elements that uniquely stood out. It was remarkably quiet in the hallways and lobby. We unfortunately didn't get to see or partake in its other amenities like the fitness center, rooftop (which had food trucks and put put golf) or the restaurant WREN because our time here was so short. My wife was ready to return in the 1st 5mins saying, "Oh we gotta come back!"
The rooms here are spacious and extremely comfortable, clean and again, quiet. The 500sqft layout of the King Jr Suite was impressive. Its size really won over the other hotels that were nearby. The Watermark again wins. The same price point as its completion but it offers tons of space that the others don't compare.
Another advantage it has on it's competitors is it's proximity to Wegmans (adjacent) considering there are no restaurants/shops within walking distance besides those that are physically in hotels (which I've heard are typically bland - unfulfilling but unfortunately at higher price points). Having access to the only store in the area is paramount. It's right next door. There is a mall and fine restaurants nearby but with the area mainly being surrounded by highway, there's no way to walk but it's all witha 4min drive in any direction.
Speaking of which, in Apr2024 the area is still under development. You can see a lot of promise in Tyson's but a disadvantage of staying on the 18th floor with an expected view is looking out the window at this time and seeing nothing but construction & cranes in the sky.
Tysons and Mclean are a rocks throw away. They might as well be the same place. Don't get confused about the two. I learned they're basically synonymous.
An amenitie almost all the hotels in that area lacked was a pool but again how The Watermark wins is they provide a complimentary (real) buffet- style breakfast. The menu is well balanced, fresh and convenient. It's not the tastiest thing you've ever had but I'm sure it satisfies a multitude of palates, demographics and health concerns. Although you can eat all you want, it's not the type of breakfast that'll have you running to fill 3-4 plates but its going to do everything that it needs to do.
Speaking of which, we were happy to see how diverse the patrons here were. Families, couples, various ethnicities and walks of life, proved this hotel is at a price point that ¹avoids riff raff but also is ²affordable for a mutltitude of people. It's also worthy to note that I saw a pet Boxer (dog) that was not ADA compliant so I assume they're pet friendly. I believe I read that on their website but it wasn't a highlight for me specifically.
Parking is also the best in the area. The Watermark has an adjacent parking garage that has a $25 daily rate meaning: when using your room key you can go in and out multiple times without paying more than $25day. Again, you would use your room key to exit and avoid using the ticket that the machine issues when entering the garage. Additionally request to have your garage charges applied to your room for this to work on such a way. Nearby hotels have valet parking that not only requires a tip but you can't move freely without dropping a few bills.
My only desire would've been to stay longer than just a weekend but life goes on; right? I trust you will enjoy your stay.
My critique is honest and by no means endorsed by The Watermark but my reviews have helped many consumers and...
Read moreThis is for those people (like us) who are always looking for honest and REALLY detailed reviews to give them the peace that they are picking the perfect place to stay at well LOOK NO FURTHER BECAUSE THIS IS IT!!!!! 😍 If you are thinking about coming to DC, The Watermark is simply amazing and we wouldn’t recommend staying anywhere else. It’s about 25min away from Downtown DC so a quick Uber ride away!
Even before our arrival, we spoke to someone on the phone (we believe her name was Leslie) and she was the sweetest. She even asked us if we preferred a sunset or a sunrise view! And then, from the moment we arrived, Patrick at the front desk was so wonderful and he even gave us an early check-in because that day the hotel was more booked than usual due to a wedding so he wanted to make sure we got our rooms early. That has NEVER happened anywhere else ever! Everyone we spoke to had a lovely attitude. Breakfast was the BEST breakfast buffet we’ve ever seen/eaten at. Amazing and delicious options, there was truly something for everyone! (The only thing to note with breakfast is that they do not have gluten-free options or dairy-free options but other than that best best best breakfast buffet ever.) Vico at breakfast gave us amazing service as well as the rest of the staff, they have stolen a piece of our hearts! Everyone was so sweet and patient and helpful, especially Vico!!!! We’ll miss you Vico!
The room was chef’s kiss perfection. Nothing out of place, absolutely ZERO complaints. From the cloud we slept on (we need that mattress and those pillows at home 😂) to the incredible toiletries that basically gave me brand new luscious hair haha just incredible. Everything was impeccable in the room. Truly truly a luxurious experience!
There’s a Wegman’s right below so that was wonderful as well because we were able to grab groceries there and take that back to our room that had a fridge AND a microwave! It was almost impossible to find a hotel with both and when we finally found The Watermark we were sold. Just grab some food and utensils/plates at Wegman’s and you’ll be good to go!
Right outside of the lobby, on a rooftop park called The Perch, there’s a beautiful outside area to hang out with the family and with some great photo spots 👌🏻 At night there’s a live band and it’s a perfect way to end the night with some beer, good food, and mini golf!
We didn’t get a chance to hit up The Wren (the hotel restaurant) but I have no doubts that it’s probably equally as amazing as the rest of the experience at The Watermark.
It goes without saying but…CANNOT WAIT TO BE...
Read moreParking- $30/day may be included in your rate. Check in- front desk staff at check in did not tell us anything about what was included in our rate and we only found out that parking was included from other guests in the elevator. We were there for an event and friends -after we left - told us they had breakfast there as part of the rate we all paid. Disappointed in the front desk staff. Elevators- Use your key tap your floor in the panel and wait. And wait. You are assigned an elevator and wait for the right one to open. Took longer than any I’ve ever used. Room- standard room in my photos. The entry was nice and wide. Bench and shoe spot by the door with an umbrella and shopping bag for use. Large dresser and luggage rack. Convenience Center with Keurig, microwave, mini fridge and sink. Sitting area separated from the bedroom with a pretty comfortable couch and chair. The TV did not work and the desk was marked with a charging pad but that didn’t work. The bedroom convenient side lamp and reading light with a wall mounted tv (that worked) closet with safe was behind a cute barn sliding door. The surprise was the partial wall that separated the bedroom from the rest of the room. (In photos). The bathroom nice large counter space. Convenient make up mirror with light. Modern wall mirror with light and fans imbedded. Shower. Omg really nice. The water pressure was lacking, but the rain shower head was made up for by hand wand, so at my short height I could get all the soap off. The accessories provided included bar soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and moisturizer. Lights and their controls were easily accessible and power receptacles were where you needed them. The access to the capital one center was outside and no interior access for guests. This means we had to go to street level and walk in the rain. Lobby access is on parking level 5 take elevator to hotel floor 11. Check out- I mentioned the parking included in our rate and was then given instructions...
