This was our first time at this restaurant. Moved to Ukiah within the last year after living in SoCal for all my life so been to many Mexican restaurants. People here were friendly but that was all that was good. When the chips and salsa were brought out on a tray, the young lady left one small per tray of chips with....12 chips in it for two people. I’ve never been to a Mexican restaurant and given such a small amount of chips. I asked for another and she gladly gave me a second tray. The chips looked and tasted like they came out of a bag, maybe heated or browned in the oven, plain in taste and appearance. The salsa looked and tasted like the tomatoes came out of a can and not fresh. We ordered the single cheese enchilada plate and a vegetarian taco. The tortilla used in the cheese enchilada was tiny and the enchilada very cheesy and oily, the rice clumpy. The Taco was made of a flour tortilla served flat on a plate. I thought it was a tostada so I asked the server if it was a taco or tostada and she confirmed it was a taco. The appearance was less than average overall. The plate came with beans (tasted fine) and iceberg lettuce for small salad. Overall, ingredients were less than average, appearance less than average, and taste and enjoyment less than average. That’s why I’m giving it 2 stars. My wife said it was the worst Mexican place she had ever been to and she didn’t finish her food. We ended up next door afterwards and did better at Baskin...
Read moreThey have great, authentic Mexican food. A few times, they have messed-up our order, but my husband loves this place so much that it's his favorite Mexican place to go to, besides home to his Mothers' house. He even got a T-shirt from them. He always wagers authenticity with everything he tries.
They have super burritos which are humongous! They have a large selection of Mexican food and drinks. Their chips are great and free! They make their own salsa, which is pretty good, but we have had better salsa. I do not like their fried beans - they feel like they have too much lard in them. I do not like their rice, either - it is rather plain. But, just like there are different areas of the U.S. that have different food preparations, the same holds true for Mexico. I do not remember if you can pay with a check, but you can pay with debit or credit card, and cash.
The dining area is huge, but always smells like bleach. However, I have a super strong nose. My family never mentions the smell, so it may just be me who can smell it. They have a lot of pictures up on the walls which can keep...
Read moreMaybe because I come from Stockton where there's really really good Mexican food. Anywho... got a burrito supreme de asada, to start... when I opened it it was GUSHING grease out through the tortilla. Whatever, I still gave it a shot grabbed my little napkin and patted the grease away... first bite, nothing but gauc and sour cream. I get it, it's a burrito.. sometimes that happens in the process of folding but it took me THREE big bites of what tasted like some NASTY 4 day old gauc to FINALLY get to the meat and..... 😐 I almost broke my tooth from how burnt it was! I guess I hate seeing the bad in things and that's probably my worse flaw as a person because I have no idea what possessed me to think maybe one last bite would make it better but nope... it was all just burnt asada. I'm not one to shun places on reviews, because I get it. I was a server .. it sucks but I'm laying here ready to throw my guts up any second now... and for 10 bucks?...
