Nice place. You can park your car right next to your room. Good value. Well maintained grounds and small room. No frills but clean. I'd stay here again.

I called during the beginning of November to make a reservation. Not only was the man who answered totally unwilling to make one, he was also plainly and simply rude.||||Having noticed this man's rudeness, I then read the reviews on this place on Google and Yelp. I didn't have to rad much to see that the family inhabiting this hotel has trouble respecting others. A third of the google reviews on this property are one or two star reviews, and half of these specifically reference rude and abusive behavior by the family inhabiting this property. Yelp and Google reviews also specifically detail racist behavior by members of the family living at and operating this hotel.||||I noticed some positive reviews as well, though, and decided to give the place a shot.||||One star since room seven was, though small, indeed clean.||||That’s where the benefits of staying at the Voll Motel end, sadly.||||This is a family home first, and motel second. Room Six, for example, next to my room, was inhabited by the daughter of the rude man who shouted at me on the telephone during my initial call. This man was accused on at least two separate accounts by unrelated victims of being directly racist toward customers.||||The rooms offered in this family home fronting as a hotel are clean, but I saw myself that the family is dishonest, abusive, overbearing, and unwell. It is no surprise that about a third of the combined Yelp and Google reviewers gave terrible reviews, and about half of these specifically document the sort of unprovoked abuse that I saw from the family living at the Voll property. It is important that the behavior of this family is documented on Tripadvisor as well as other sites.||||I spent one peaceful night on Tuesay, November 17th, 2020 in room seven. Since I had seen no problems other than the gruffness (occasionally slipping into rudeness) on the part of the bald, elderly man who took my money and had been rude over the phone. Thus, I decided not to heed warnings about this man's racist and rude behavior, or that of his family, and decided to book the rest of the week in room seven. After all, I do believe in seeing things with my own eyes before forming an opinion. I had been very patient with this man’s rudeness, mollifying him with kindness wherever possible in the face of his ||||refusal to answer questions about room size and price, ||||interruptions, ||||surly demeanor, and ||||requests for repetition of things he’d clearly already heard and understood. ||||My strategy thereafter was simply to avoid the entire family inhabiting this hotel during my stay. Believe it or not, I thought (despite the reviews of others warning me of what was to come) that this was a hotel rather than a dysfunctional home, and such a strategy could be feasible.||||Today, on the morning November 18th, 2020, I heard the inhabitants of the rooms adjacent to mine leave long before I decided to take my shower around ten-thirty AM. Mind you, I had kept a low profile the night before to avoid the family occupying a large portion of the property, returning from a jog simply to read and go to sleep. ||||Now that, the next morning, the adjacent rooms were unoccupied, I decided to play some music during my shower at about half the volume my bluetooth speaker is capable of. The volume was loud enough to be heard above the din of shower spray in my ears, but certainly not loud enough to be heard very far from my hotel room. Had there been humans in either of the adjacent rooms, It could have been audible, but since I had no neighbors during my shower, this point is obviously moot.||||After listening to less than two songs, and dressing (six minutes total of music, maximum) a head appeared in my open doorway. I was accosted by the snarling face of the middle-aged woman who inhabits this hotel. She demanded with no diplomacy whatsoever that the music volume immediately be lowered.||||I did not argue, or respond at all, other than to simply say “of course” and lowered the volume without delay.||||Instead of pacifying this woman, the effect of my compliance seemed to be inflame this woman's seething rage all the more. She did not indeed seem concerned about music volume. She seemed concerned with foisting hate and bile upon others. Apparently unsatisfied with her attempt to inject vitriol into my day, the woman returned to my room after a brief departure, and with a countenance of sheer pithy filth growled: “the neighbors just complained about your music.” .. then hissing “YOU WILL LOWER THE VOLUME”. She did not shout as the bald man had, but was so very full of emotional poison that I felt quite taken aback by her second incursion, this one clearly an attack.||||It was at that moment that remembered the warnings I'd read on Yelp and Google reviews. It was also at that moment that I regretted not heeding them.||||This unwell woman left again for about a minute and again returned. When she did return again, she opened the doors to the rooms adjacent to mine, revealing that neither room had been occupied during the six or so minutes in which I had played music in bathroom connected to my room.||||I politely asked her how complaints could have come from these rooms if they were unoccupied. The woman seemed both shocked and desperate upon hearing the question. Looking flummoxed, cornered, and exposed in her inappropriate and patently dishonest and abusive attack, she then shifted to an arsenal of pure dishonesty. She now promptly accused me of “playing my television loudly”, although, of course, I had not turned on the television at any time during my stay, and had played music at no other time than this very morning during my shower.||||I ran any plausible scenario through my head to explain this woman's behavior. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Given her patent emotional illness, however, no explanation that came to mind could afford this person an justification for her abuse and dishonesty. ||||I explained politely and calmly to her that such accusations were not true, as I had not turned on my television at all. At this, she now began to vibrate with a visible rage, shoved her cleaning cart into a room, and stormed off to the office near the entrance to the property. She then returned promptly with her daughter, who, emboldened by her mother’s salvo, began to loudly pepper me with accusations of ‘playing my television loudly’. I told both of them calmly but firmly that I had never turned on the television.||||The two then switched back to the original assault, clearly ridiculous and false accusations of ‘disturbing the neighboring rooms with music’. Again, I calmly but firmly replied that there was no one in room six or eight, and such a statement was simply dishonest. I added, again, firmly but politely, that it is best to avoid dishonesty.||||Upon hearing this, the two summoned the rude and allegedly racist man, who immediately strode toward me in a very aggressive fashion, shouting unintelligible things at breakneck speed.||||I simply responded time and time again, politely but firmly, that I had never turned on my television, and that it was impossible that rooms six and eight would have complained about the music, since they were empty.||||After this abuse, I requested a refund for the nights of 11/18/2020, and 11/19/2020, and...

First the good: This motel didn't try to charge $140 for a one-bed room as if my cousin and I are THAT desperate to get a room for the night just because it was already 9:30 pm (ehem Sunset Inn of Ukiah-- luckily capitalism on our end made sure such a dirty practice would never pay off) The $65 price tag the Voll Motel charged was very respectable for two beds, especially considering it was the last left with vacancy. The attendant wasn't looking to screw us over and was very accommodating.

Unfortunately, this only available room was room #4, a smoker room. I didn't actually think there'd be much of a difference until I spent 30 minutes in a room that had been constantly collecting smoke for likely decades on end. It was one of the worst nights of my life. If you go to this motel just make sure you get a non-smoking room. My nostrils may never forgive...

Accommodations were very clean, presentable, and affordable. The innkeeper, Nick, was friendly and understanding of our needs as we prepared for an extended motorcycle road trip. The location was walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, and businesses. I would recommend this motel to anyone who needs a simple, clean, friendly, and affordable place to stay in Ukiah. I will use the Voll Motel again in the future.||I wouldn't recommend it to those prone to complaining about lame stuff. This place gave us what we needed when we needed it. The owner was very fair and communicated with us about everything. The prices are already reasonable, don't go there trying to haggle or looking for discounts. He struck us as a straight-shooting and hard working man, not one to suffer fools. Frankly a breath...
