Fish & Chix — Restaurant in Umatilla

Everyone likes something different! Here you have a choice of different things so I would suggest that if your ever in the area you have to stop and try it for yourself. Especially if you love fried chicken, chicken wings, fish, shrimp or a very good hamburger however you like it. They have a good size menu with all kinds of appetizers or sides. The French fries in my opinion are better than McDonald's and I used to love those fries but now I love these better. The fried mushrooms are also to die for. But ours is the fish sandwich which is awesome, melts in your mouth and comes with a side and well worth the price. Also you can't bear the service or the atmosphere here. Fantastic home town cooking. Oh also you have to try the homemade CARROT CAKE THEY HAVE , ITS SOOOO GOOD,MOIST AND JUST WHAT you need for the perfect meal. They also have another homemade cake but I'm not sure what it is though it looks scrumptious too, I'm a big fan of the carrot cake cause I've made them from scratch myself with my mom's recipe. Been a few years now since I've made one. I've tried this one at fish and chix before and that's why I say it's my favorite. I DONOT do a lot of sweets myself. There's a Drive through. The Menu is low . From our SUV we can't see the whole Menu. We had our 2 Boston Terriers & was coming back from Vet ,having their nails trimmed . We don't leave them alone in the Vehicle I went inside to get a Menu. I was told to take a picture of the Menu outside because it's easier to read & understand then the 1 on the wall inside . They were right .& that they don't have Paper menu's. It's 2024 & there's plenty of places to eat. The outside menu looks like a Kid wrote it ., with signs attached here n there . The Older people behind the counter could care less whether we ordered or left. That's as far as we got . I feel if your in Business, at least act like you want the Business. Have some menus printed up & put out a Decent (,a little more up to date sign outside) not all scribbled signs hung up . I love to see all age groups working But at least act like your interested & that you can hear & speak . It sounded like they've said , take a picture of the Menu many times . I really wish I could give them 5 stars, but I would be lying. Now I have not tried their seafood or shrimp or chicken livers and gizzards, unsure if I'll give them another chance but here's my review of two visits, (months apart) I live in the area and pass here all the time. I came here the second time, and like the first was very disappointed. For eight dollars I got a tiny bony chicken wing and an equally bony and small chicken thigh. For a dollar more I could've gotten an entire half of a chicken, plus dinner at Mason Jar. And at Mason Jar the portions are GENEROUS I also received 2 halves of fritters 1/5 +1/5 = 1 whole. Fritters were good but even if it was two whole fritters, that's it? A tablespoon of old cole slaw and a tablespoon of green beans.The workers were not rude but they were not friendly either
