Rae's Dayz Diner and Cakery is one of those little treasures hidden on the back roads of rural America. A true diner experience with the wonderful small town feel. I had the PBJJ burger, yeah that's right, a peanut butter, jam, and jalapeno burger. I was a bit skeptical at first but one of my fellow travelers said that combination is really quite good and let me tell you, they were not wrong. Rae's Dayz PBJJ burger is money and, when combined with their other sides, makes for the perfect lunch! So many other good and yummy diner style choices, including breakfast selections, were available as well and I think you'd find something for everyone there. Then, to top off the experience, the deserts from the Cakery side of the business is worthy of admiration. Be it the generously sized Death by Chocolate cake, the Marion Berry Pie, or one of the largest Cinnamon Rolls I've ever seen, you sweet tooth will love you forever! You will also be pleasantly surprised by how quickly your order is taken and to the table. Our party of 8 arrived at the restaurant at 2:45 PM, walked right in, and we were back on the road by 3:45 PM. I would definitely recommend taking the time to stop by this hidden gem and enjoy one of the best traditional diner stops I've...
Read moreRead a bunch of the review's very mixed. Decided cant trust the internet. better go investigate on my own behalf. Apon arrival i noticed for the area this restaurant is well kept not messy by the door or dirty walkways thats a plus. As a got seated and situated imediatly getting asked for my drink apon sitting down i noticed the menu is typical also for hermiston area( tri fold menu 5 pages) one for each food category and their respected styles (breakfast ,lunch, dinner and desert!) I chose the french dip! Typically ita a go to cause A) hard to mess up B) creativity is what is gonna set them apart from my own cooking at home obviously so. Food was amazing couldn't get a french dip like that anywhere in hermiston there usually is always a problem (sandwich is cold, the dipoing sauce is like motor oil ect) and twoards the end of everything me and the waitress had a lengthy convo before i paid. Only complaint i can see the kitchen as a food critique i dont wanna even fathom whats going on back there almost like authentic mexican cuisine "if it taste good dont ask...
Read moreI would have loved to give this place a 5 star but I just can’t and here’s why.
The desserts are bought wholesale and the burgers are pre-bought frozen patties.
I had read all these reviews about scratch pies and homemade comfort food so I was really looking forward to this after being on the road for several hours. You can imagine how bummed I was to pay $11.75 for a wholesale burger that came out about five minutes after I placed the order and cheap coffee with single packet creamers.
As a foodie I always make a point to ask if the food is housemade, especially the dessert options.... particularly if it’s pie or cake.
As far as the customer service, I didn’t experience anything negative. The lady that took my order was nice and polite, even came back and checked on me a couple times.
A few folks claim that the place is racist and the N word is spoken here. Idk.. I can’t speak to that - though there were only white people in the place when...
