Mulberry's Pancakes & Cafe — Restaurant in Union Grove

We saw the good reviews, so stopped in. Big mistake. Our waitress, who we initially thought was very nice, had to reminded when one order came out without the special modification we requested, along with reminders of missing sides that were to be included with the order. Every question was answered with the starting phrase of "Like, sure....". The food itself is what I call 'Sysco food', pre-made frozen food, that the cook just has to reheat. Nothing special, rather bland. I ordered the French dip. There was probably about 3/4-1: of meat piled on the bun. It was all layered flat, instead of folding it, so it tasted and felt like a brick. The interior of the restaurant is very dated, late 70's/early 80's. We wre cold during the meal, as the air flow from the (extremely dirty) vents were blowing down on us. Mulberry's is a hidden diamond. What a wonderful down home feeling you get here. The food is all homemade, the portions are huge and the prices are fair for how much food u get ! Expect to bring a doggie bag home for at least two more meals.. No kidding !! Our waitress was Michelle. She is such a delight ! She is friendly and knowledgeable of how the meals are prepared. There was seven of us and she catered to us all individually with grace. The food was served just minutes after we placed our order...I still don't know how they did that so fast. I, also with two others, had the cream of mushroom soup and it was the best I have ever had !! We three raved about how delicious it was and it was generous with the biggest mushrooms. We were passing through Union Grove and have always enjoyed this restaurant. We stopped for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Cynthia was our server and she was super friendly and excellent providing great service. My husband had the sizzling chorizo skillet with eggs cooked over easy and Italian toast. He really enjoyed the skillet and which he thought it could have used a few jalapeños. I had the veggie omelet and added diced ham with cheese, hashbrowns, and sourdough toast. The omelet was huge and plentiful and very good. The hashbrowns were a bit disappointing as they were super oily or buttery I want sure but didn’t care for how they tasted. Next time I’ll get the diced potatoes or American fries. The unsweetened iced tea was brewed fresh and my glass was promptly refilled which I enjoyed.
