Grill Stop — Restaurant in University City

As a former employee I wouldn’t recommend eating here. One thing that always bothered me was the poor sanitation from the senior staff. They don’t disinfect or wash the containers they use to marinate their chicken between uses. I would often try to actually wash them with soap and a good scrub but I was told that takes to long just to give it a rinse.

One of their freezers busted for a few hours and all their fish was left to sit inside. The owner simply told the staff to rinse it with lemon to remove the bad smell from sitting inside the broken freezer and they send some of this stock to their sister location “Fish Hook” even some of the staff felt uncomfortable by this and we did threw some of it away but a big portion of it was served to customers.

The other thing thing that bothered me was the poor customer service from this place. I noticed some of the other staff would handle customer complains by simply just arguing with the customer. Instead of finding a solution. It’s very different to how I’ve been trained on previous job. I was also a bit disappointed on some of the racial comments made by some of the other staff. Towards the black community. Which I also founded ironic since most of the staff here is Muslim or Foreigners. I would think as members from a minority group they would have a better understanding towards prejudice.

Had a craving for cheesesteak, quick search had a few places in the area and Grill Stop had the best reviews but I was not expecting to be impressed. This is a takeout place so placed my order in person and within 6-8 minutes my cheesesteak was ready. Cheesesteak, fries and a drink for $7.99, great deal. They also had several lunch combos available too for $6.99. The steak was flavorful, they mixed in some seasoned peppers, onions and mushrooms then topped with cheese. Bread was excellent, slightly toasted but soft inside. Fries were well seasoned and delicious. I have to say I was impressed with the quality, price and speed. This may become a regular stop.

Constructive comments would be: Place could use a good cleaning, can visibly see lots of build up on phone, computer, floors and surfaces. Next, I suggest ditching the small grocery area that hasn’t been stocked in a while for a few tables and chairs so you can eat inside. Lastly I am not a fan of the generic sodas so I...
