Carlette's Hideaway — Restaurant in Upper Darby

So I came here for a fish fry and I must say that it was definitely a little hole in the wall bar. The security rubbed me the wrong way cause he didn’t search one person but decided to search me and lied and said he knew the person when I clearly seen him being introduced to the lady as someone significant other. The bathroom is nasty and needs to be redone. I don’t see how a bar can make so much money but refuse to upkeep the restroom. The drinks were reasonable in price but it made me extremely sick had a headache the next day just off one drink. I thought that was odd so I hate to say they may cut their liquor. I asked the young lady for a bag and she gone say is the food from the fish fry and if so I can’t get a bag. I’m confused cause if the establishment made the food for the fish fry why was it an issue to get a bag. I mean one plastic bag. I don’t understand people these days. But I should’ve of known the service wasn’t gone be good just off the first experience with the security. I honestly don’t like how they even cut up the fish like fish nugget style for the fish fry. It had an okay taste but the green beans tasted the best. Lol.

Nice place, im going to say they are still trying to get their groove back from covid. Their method of ordering food is online but if its your first time, you dont know where to pick your food up at. I stood at the door with the "open" sign over it and the vision of the cooks cooking but all they did was look back at me while cooking. Come to find out you had to pick your food up from the end of the bar. I ordered mozzarella sticks, fish nugget platter, and a lamb chop platter. Well the mozzarella stkcks were overcooked so they made a second batch. Unless you stand there your food will be cold. So l gave up after the second try. The fish was good but the lamb chop platter looked skimpy. The drinks was priced well and they even have a backyard with seating. Be careful parking too. Service was O....K. There is no reason for me to go back but l say hey why not give it a try. My experience is not...

After three visits, I’d say the short, darkskin bartender is the best. She can tend the whole bar with no problem. I was there on 6/6 and the male bartender was drinking with a group of his friends and myself and a few others kept trying to get a drink. I finally got his attention, while I was at the smoothie machine and he said I was not on his side of the bar so he couldn’t help me. The other girl, Nish, ignored us and only seemed to tend to her regulars. She told us to “wait one sec” a few times, poured herself and a male friend a drink, sat and drank with him and then left the bar and went outside. Came back in, counted her drawer and continued to ignore us. It was sad. It wasn’t even crowded 🤦🏽‍♀️The owner needs to watch the footage from that night and get new bartenders. They were both doing everything but their jobs. They also shut down at 1am. The music is good, food and food...
