SHRIMP KING — Restaurant in Upper Darby

I usually wouldn’t do this I ordered food over Uber eats. When I got my food I realized my cornbread and Mac & Cheese wasn’t in my platter. I called a young lady answered the phone. She explained that she try to contact Uber eats to express there’s no corn bread and they no longer sells Mac & Cheese. Ok I was fine with her explaining to me. You can tell she only have experienced to answer the phone not good customers service. I had to chalk it up. I was about dig in and I see a piece of hair in my food. I’m called back I am being very well respectful w/ calmness. I told her what happened she told me to hold on. She got back on the phone to explain that she doesn’t know how that can happen when everyone is wearing hairnets. I didn’t just say it to say it next thing she hangs up on me. So I called back to asked why did she hang up that’s not good customer service. She tells me to throw my food in the trash lol. I just paid over 20.00 dollars along w/ a tips to the driver.Then someone else gets on the phone asked me did I order from Uber eats etc. He tells me to cancel my order and get my money back. Wow this what we come to for customer service in 2023. I pray your business continues to be successful. Everyone wants you to support their business but have horrible customer service. Regardless if I ordered from Uber eats your name is on the Brand. It doesn’t take just a second to say let me see how can fixed it not tell the customer to cancel for there money back. Don’t let the name fool you—The Shrimp King reigns over more than just shrimp, and trust me, this royal court is worth visiting!

I ordered two platters (because I have a complicated relationship with food), and both were absolute hits. Naturally, I had to try the shrimp—it’s in the name, after all—and, it delivered! If you’re familiar with Sid Booker's, think along those lines: not a copy, but a flavorful and nostalgic cousin.

Now, let’s talk wings. These aren’t just wings—they’re full wings, tips included (yes, TIP INCLUDED). The greens were tender (you know, like how you would do it if you had the time or how granny did it). The green beans had seasoning that made them sing, and the mac and cheese was officially mom-approved (high praise in my household because she is one tough cookie). Speaking of mom, she also gave a standing ovation to the potato salad—hands down the best I’ve ever had from a store. She loved it so much she called the restaurant to speak to the Shrimp King himself.

The cherry on top of this feast? That pound cake. It was so good I half expected to find my mixer and flour bags missing because it tasted like I made it myself.

To top it all off, the owner was incredibly nice, and the steady flow of customers in and out proved this spot is the real deal. When in Upper Darby please give this place a try. I usually don't write reviews but I ordered from Shrimp King last night via DoorDash for my second time. To make a long story (and night) short, my order was essentially stolen by my dasher. I simply called the restaurant to confirm that my order was picked up by my dasher and when the man I spoke with (who I assume may have been the owner/manager) found out that I never received it, he made sure it was immediately rectified by DoorDash, stayed open nearly an hour later than closing for a new order to be prepared and sent out for me, and even included a few side dishes and well as extra cocktail sauce to accommodate me and make up for my horrible experience with my dasher (that had nothing to do with the restaurant).

I must say, the fried shrimp is one of the things that keeps me ordering from them but last night's customer service was top tier and is the reason I will remain a loyal and happy customer with them. It's very rare that you receive good customer service anymore and it honestly turned my entire night around.
