I've been trying all the Italian restaurants in the area and this is a new favorite. Great place for high quality traditional Italian American dishes at very reasonable prices. I recommend the linguini scampi. The six large shrimp were cooked appropriately and the pasta was nicely al dente. The sauce was subtle and all the flavors well balanced. Not too much garlic, oil, or lemon – just right. And OMG, finally a restaurant that knows to remove the tail and shell from shrimp when it goes into a sauce! Because who wants to get their fingers all messy from holding saucy shrimp by the tail? No one, that’s who.
The gnocchi sorrento was appropriately rich. The gnocchi themselves were quite good; the tomato sauce was simple and not bad. The mozzarella cheese might have been just a bit excessive for me, though I expect most people would love this. I added some parmesan cheese from the table for extra saltiness and flavor. 16 hours later I think I can still feel this dish sitting in my stomach; I should probably fast today.
The namesake pasta fazool soup was just pretty good. The pasta in the soup was nicely al dente, which most restaurants can’t seem to achieve. The bread served to each table is fresh and warm. It’s not Italian bread, and not great, but reasonably flavorful. We did not order dessert, but from peeking at other diners’ tables, it looked good.
Dining room can be drafty when the weather is cold. I kept my coat on the whole time. Service was professional, friendly, prompt. We appreciated the complementary chocolatecello shots at the end of our meal. The prices here are very reasonable for the quality and volume of food you get, though be aware that the specials do come with a price bump. Stick with on-menu items for value, and...
Read moreIf I could give it zero stars I would. The manager on 1/22/22 during the dinner shift was incredibly rude and her lack of customer service was unbelievable.
We ordered $90 worth of food for takeout. Unfortunately, the linguini with clams was flavorless. I ordered gluten-free pasta for my linguini scampi and got penne instead. Penne does not blend well with a white wine sauce. Texture and lack of flavor deemed it inedible.
When I returned the two items, I was met with extreme hostility. I explained that I wished I had been informed that the only gluten-free pasta was penne. The manager told me it was my responsibility to ask, and that her staff was not responsible for telling me that. I had eaten the five shrimp that came in the dish, and she decided I needed to pay $6 for them. When I asked for a replacement dish, she told me that she would not serve me or give me any food. I asked why and she said I would only return it. She didn't want my business.
I asked for a soup which she gave me, but I didn't eat it. Considering her belligerent attitude, I decided not to eat the soup in fear that she had tampered with it.
I did get a refund (minus the $6 for the shrimp), and she even decided to return the $10 tip we had given for the staff. Not exactly a nice way to treat your employees.
Overall a truly horrible experience that ruined our Saturday night...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our dinner here last night. We were seated immediately, and since we brought our own wine, I barely got the bottle opened and one of their adept wait staff (Savannah) was right there with 2 tall glasses of ice and water. Told her we didn't need it, do she took the 2 waters right away and brought us wine glasses, and all done with an exuberant demeanor and a big smile. Also helping us get comfortable was Karolina who explained the dinner specials as well as the cost, which is a big help in decision making. I had their chicken parmagania and my guest (my girl) has the chicken and eggplant dish, which she shared, and was totally awesome. Finished off a very good meal with coffee and canolis, which were light and heavenly. We now found our little gem of an old school Italian Restaurant hidden in a small shopping center on York rd, on the boarder of Hatboro, and Willow Grove. Right where Mill rd, and N Warminster intersect with York Rd. Well worth the visit, oh, and make reservations. Cash only right now. They just reopened....
