Haha, where do I start. They run very inconsistent operating hours. In fact, they seem to close for the day without any notice of any kind. If staffing is the issue, then no wonder. Due to the present nature of this place, who would want to work there?? If you go online to order, you may get all the way to the check-out, only to find out that they are closed. They also require that you order the Sea Shares online, rather than in person (that is only for this store). What sort of well-run business does that?? They clearly operate separate from the other two Des Moines area stores.
Instead of making a long list about this horridly run store, I will say this. Corporate needs to take possession and get rid of the franchisee. The franchisee has no competence whatsoever and doesn't truly grasp what is needed to effectively run this sort of business. Then, corporate needs to bulldoze the very outdated and rundown building (on the outside, it is A DUMP). ... After this, they need to rebuild. The lot is more than large enough to put up a building which could accommodate both the Long John Silver's and A & W monikers. Currently, they do not have a large enough building for this to work properly. .... With only the one location on the northwest metro area, it would be a shame to lose LJS over here. To many customers, they already appear to be gone. ... Maybe it isn't too late, but it will never get fixed under the current management. A new ownership, new management and a new building are all needed. Presently, only a corporate intervention...
Read moreSadly I look for this location to be closed in about 2 months, and replaced by a B-Bops(which is the current trend in Des Moines(like the SE Fleur location). Anytime an establishment is as outwardly hostile to patrons it doesn't take long for people(customers) to stop coming and the doors to close. Regretfully I stopped here yesterday and the only employee worthy of 5 stars was a young gentleman behind the counter named Shavonne, who was loudly berated, by another employee. Even though she attempted to belittle him, he still kept his cool- waiting on the next customer. That employee very unprofessional and shouldn't be in charge of anyone, lacking in the necessary skills to lead. I prayed she wasn't the manager on duty and she wasn't. Well ill tell you now that the whole crew was about as professional as the Peanuts gang. Disorganized, rude , but most importantly they conveyed just how they felt to all the customers in the store. Customers are a bother to this crew, and they would appreciate it if you would go away and not come back. Trashiest LJS ever, worst service, and disgusting food. Oh and when an employee put a little too much ice cream in the cup for my float another employee had a fit and then threw the cup with too much ice cream in the trash instead of just serving it to me. And if no one gets this then oh well you are as lost as this place....
Read morePlaced a mobile order at 6:44 October 13th, spent $87. Lobby door was already closed so went thru the drive thru. I did not receive 2 platters of the 2 fish 3 chickens and 4 sides of cheese curds. Went back thru the drive thru and had to explain like 3 times at the window what I was missing. Had to then wait for the food to be made again. They said “we put some extra hushpuppies in” when they handed me my new bag, figured awesome they got it right then and went home without rechecking. Got home, did have 2 extra hush puppies for the original mistake but was given 2 fish 1 chicken on one of the platters. And all 4 sides of cheese curds were burnt. WENT BACK AGAIN, this is now the 3rd time thru. Passed them back the food so they can see. Explained I need a 2 fish 3 chicken platter with 4 sides of cheese curds. Had to wait for the food to be made AGAIN. Again thought they probably got it right, went home, again the platter is incorrect. I did receive 5 pieces this time but it was 3 fish 2 chicken. Thankfully the 4 cheese curds were not burnt this time. Not going back a 4th time even tho my order is still not correct.
Hushpuppies were definitely overcooked as well, ordered 24 on the side and most were so toasted it was like eating a ball of crumbs.
