We came to know about the opening of this Indian Restaurant a few days before the opening day. We wanted to visit on the opening day for the Grand Buffet, but we got busy on that day. However, we visited this restaurant the next day, on the Saturday.
The restaurant is located in a complex with few other establishments. Parking space was sufficient.
It was nice to see the decoration from the previous day. We were greeted warmly by the staff and the owners. There were a couple families initially, but, slowly the restaurant starting getting more busier. It was good to see a new restaurant getting busy.
We started with BabyCorn Manchurian. It was awesome. The crispiness, the taste, the spice and the sauce - were all perfect.
Next, we ordered Cheese Naan, Garlic Butter Naan and Bullet Naan. Bullet Naan was not a part of the menu currently. But, on checking with the staff, they obliged to prepare it for us. Very kind and flexible of them. All the Naans were well done - soft, thickness, taste, and baked to perfection.
For the entree, we chose Gongura Paneer. We requested it to be spicier. The taste of GP was amazing. Authentic, flavorful, with the right spice. And quantity was also sufficient. Gongura Paneer was one of the rare entrees to find on a Menu. I haven't come across this dish in majority of the restaurants across the US.
Finally, we went with Paneer Biryani. We requested to customize the Biryani by including few veggies, and the Chef obliged. The PB was one of the best Biryanis we've had in Des Moines and surrounding places. The taste, the flavor, the masalas, the spice, the "Dum", and the quantity were all perfect - just the way a "Traditional Biryani" should be. And, even the Salan was very good. At many other restaurants, they don't give too much attention to the salan. But, here - the taste was very good.
The Chef had done an amazing job with all the dishes that we had ordered. The taste was top-notch. The partners - Ravi, Ravi, Gopal, Srikanth - have done a nice job with this Restaurant.
Location is good. Staff is awesome. Owners are supportive and flexible. Hope they continue to offer the same taste and quality even after a few months - and in the longer run.
PS: Next week - we again returned back and ordered a Take-Out of Paneer Biryani again. And, it was a repeat - amazing taste, flavor and spice. Saffron - keep up the same...
Read moreExcellent food! Great service! The waiter was very friendly and they all came out to greet us and ask us how our food was. There are so many great options of both vegetarian and Non Vegetarian food and any entree can be made vegan or gluten-free. My personal favorite the Paneer Tikka Masala was spot on delicious! Very creamy and rich in flavor and texture. The Veg-Fried rice was very rich and fluffy and much different than any other kind of rice I've had in the best way! And the chili sauce along with it was a perfect touch of spice 🤌. And the gobi 555! This crispy and crunchy cauliflower that looked and tasted exactly like chicken and it felt like the experience of actually eating real chicken! And as a vegetarian myself I LOVED IT! Everyone was so friendly and even the chef himself came out and asked us how our food was and if there was anything we needed! Overall a great place! A very friendly atmosphere! And we were each even given complimentary fruit custard desert! And the best Naan I've ever eaten! Definitely gonna come...
Read moreWe had planned on pizza but our usual place closed at 8 and I finished work at 7:30. Looking for places to eat I found a new restaurant right in our backyard so to speak. I am always down for Indian food and Saffron did not disappoint! We were eating light so I had my go to (Lamb Vindaloo) and my wife had Palak Paneer (her go to). Both dishes were excellent! The vindaloo was nicely balanced with nothing overwhelming the other flavors and the lamb was tender without being overcooked. Medium spice was just enough to give me a nice zing without lingering afterburn. My wife declared the no spice Palak Paneer as perfect for her sensitive palate. We also had delicious roasted garlic naan and the basmati rice that came with the meal was also perfectly done. The mango lassi was excellent and the Saffron Badam Milk that I tried was a treat. The service was prompt and attentive and the staff was very pleasant. Great food at great prices....
