I honestly really loved this hotel. The room/bathroom was clean (which is hard to find these days), the breakfast was good, housekeeping staff was amazing (particularly the older foreign lady with a strong accent... somebody give that sweet woman a raise!). I had zero complaints and was ready to recommend to others until we went to check out. My kids and I had a very busy trip and did not have any time to use the pool until the last day around checkout, which was perfect because we didnt have anywhere to go for a few hours anyway. I figured we could get checked out and hang by the pool until we were able to go to our next location. ||I went to the front desk at 10am and asked the lady if we could use the pool after we got our things out of the room and she said yes. I told her i left my swim suit at my friend's house and needed to go grab it and she said she would extend our checkout until 12 to give us more time. I was thrilled and thanked her, as I was under the impression that she was extending our check out to give me more time to grab my suit and get checked out so we could make it to the pool before our key was deactivated. So-- I rushed to get the swim suit (which was 20 min away so 40 min round trip) and rushed back, got all our stuff out to my car and still had 10 minutes to spare. As I start wrangling my kids inside, I realized i had left my room key on the dresser. Now had i not made the mistake of leaving my key in the room, none of this would have happened, so I do take some accountability here. So I went up to the front desk and told her the situation and she looked confused and said she thought we were going to be swimming until 12. So I repeated the same thing I had told her 2 hours before, and she said that she had misunderstood me and we were not able to use the pool without a key. And I said right... but we still have 10 minutes before my card is deactivated so can I just get a new one to get in to the pool? Keep in mind my 2 young kids are standing there in their swim suits and floaties, so excited to finally get to go swimming after not being able to the last 3 days. She goes to ask a manager and when she came back she said no one can use the pool unless they are a registered guest (which I still was for another 5 minutes at this point) so my only option was to extend my stay until one for an extra $25. I couldn't believe it, after she had already told me that we could use the pool after checking out. I think this was such a garbage thing to do to customer who has already spent around $300 to stay there, and who still had plenty of time to access the pool before official check out time. So? I sucked it up and paid the extra money to avoid breaking my kids hearts (and a massive melt toddler down.. you are welcome, stoney creek staff). Had I known she misunderstood the situation, I would have just not gone to get my swim suit and let my kids swim until it was time to leave. ||It would have been zero sweat off of anyone's back to let us use the pool for an hour or two after checkout. But instead of being kind to a mom and her young children who had no where to go for a few hours, this facility chose profits over people. It's such a shame too, because I truly enjoyed my stay. But I guess making an extra $25 is more important than taking care of your customers. Do better stoney creek. Good customer service is worth so much...
