Here's the review: This place gave gave me so much nostalgia. It was a nice cafeteria style space. You can see into the kitchen as well as the waitresses station. They have lots of positive messages on the walls, and they remember your faces when you walk in.
I could tell the people there have been coming for years.
I ordered the peanut butter waffle and substituted the bananas for strawberries and no whipped cream. I had scrambled eggs with cheese and the veggie sausage since they had it, and Im allergic to pork. Otherwise, I would have asked them to just remove the meat from my order.
To drink, I chose the hot chocolate and forgot to take the picture before I began drinking it. You missed out on the perfect whipped cream mountain she put on it for me, and the sprinkles made that hot chocolate moment, my happy place. 😊
The eggs and sausage came out first. They tasted like normal eggs and cheese. Nothing over the top, just comfort breakfast. The veggie sausage, I could tell, was the real thing when I passed my fork over the top. It had this nice crust that only veggie sausages have. It was well flavored for breakfast as well.
At some point, my waffle came, and oh boy, was it big!!!! The peanut butter they use is a but sweet, so keep that in mind for those who may need to reduce their sugar intake. But paired with the strawberries and the hot syrup, it was 🔥! The waffle was freshly made to order and had those nice crispy parts on the sides. The waffle was able to hold up to the moisture of the toppings as well, which is always a bonus.
A couple of things I noticed when people watching the staff is this: They all enjoy working there They dont wash their hands enough between touching the cash register and your food They dont have a drop plate under the drink dispenser and spill liquid on the floor, which is carpeted. I can only imagine the number of germs that spread. And seeing ine waitress pick something up off the floor and toss it out without washing her hands after, worried me.
Improving these few things would make this place even better than it is. The staff were all friendly and helped each other. They communicate well and just need to wash their hands a little bit more often to keep germs from spreading.
In the meantime, check out the images attached to my review to see what I had. And if you're looking for a small town cafateria vibe where people gather for the good vibes and breakfast that tastes like home, this is your spot. It's not fancy and over the top. It's...
Read moreFirst let me say that the food was really good- it always is! The service on Sunday, June 1st was spot on! Our waitress was on the ball, super friendly, funny and beautiful!! She even let us take a souvenir. The vibe at the Good Day Cafe is always up beat... everyone comes there - I dare you to try and NOT run into someone you know - absolutely impossible!! The service is NOT always great, but our waitress was amazing!!! The hostess on the other hand was pre-occupied with something on her phone and seemed annoyed that she had to do the job she was hired for.
The thing that was most off putting was the fact that I had decided early on to give our waitress a $100 tip - she earned it - but when the check came and the gratuity was already on the check, it made me feel some type of way - tips are EARNED and NOT just given. I was told that it was a service charge for a large party - not sure when a family of five became a large party - you can justify this as a "service charge" if you want to - but I call it thievery, its literally robbing your customers and hiding behind the "service charge" stance. Needless to say our waitress missed out on good money because her employer decided that they'd just add it to our check without making sure the waitress earned it. What if the waitress was horrible? Tipping is NOT mandatory, nor legally required under California Law - tipping is a VOLUNTARY reward based on the type of service received.
Wait staff in California make between $16.50 - $19.57 per hour with tips boosting that hourly wage. Should just be happy that California is not like other states where the wait staff is paid $2.13 an hour with tips or $7.25 an hour.
You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!! When ENTITLEMENT becomes the norm we are all in trouble!!!
We won't be back... sorry not sorry.
The Owner said that his staff assured him that the service charge was only for large parties of six?? We are literally a family of FIVE!!!! I could give you my receipt as well so I call BS on that - and I applaud him for defending his hostess stating that she uses a tablet at work - but I know the difference between a PHONE and a TABLET! I also know the difference between busy and frazzled and just plain annoyed and rude. Finding a loop hole describe as a "service charge" to justify stealing is horrible -...
Read moreIt was our first time here, we were here for a car show. This was one of the only places nearby to get breakfast. That being said, this place was packed, and there was a waiting list. After a 15-minute wait, we were seated in no time. This place was a lot bigger on the inside than I thought. They had 2 entrances/ exits, and through each room was a dining area. I believe there is possibly another room in the back and outdoor seating. Looking around you can tell this place has been here for a while, since 1998 I believe. The lady who helped us was super nice, and she took her time with us. We were a party of 14. She wasn't rushing us with how busy they were. Our food was out in no time, and you could taste the quality of the food. I thoroughly appreciated how delicious the food was, even with all the hustle and bustle of everything. My husband and I ordered:
Short stack of pancakes: You have the option to have it thin and crispy. We just had it the regular way. The pancakes were fluffy and buttery. The syrup was even piping hot.
Hearty country breakfast: They did not skimp on the gravy with the biscuits and gravy. I'm happy I decided to go with sausage patties. It was heaven in every bite.
This place was amazing, and I definitely can't wait to come back soon. There are so many more items I...
