The museum is very small. Heritage chamber, To the left of entrance, is used for community events, concerts and educational programs. Research library is open on Tuesdays noon- 4pm. All other days it's only by appointment. Every 3rd Saturday of the month is free. Restrooms are on the lower floor and second floor( we used these. They are separated for both genders and the Ladies restroom is so beautiful with the sitting area outside the restroom). Periscope offers the Panoramic view of the city and Mare Island when rotated. He and John the genealogist were warm and able to answer my many questions. They were knowledgeable and went out of their way to show us all the museum had to offer beyond the initial galleries. I highly recommend this gem in Vallejo if you have the time to stop in. Not only can you learn about the navel history but there are so many older books filled with documents like mug shots from old police records and newsletters sent out to the ship yard over a century ago....
