Vallejo, CA Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Contaminated Food Order
Dear China Wok Management, I am writing to express my profound outrage and distress regarding a deeply disturbing incident involving an order placed at your establishment on July 15,2025 I placed an order for wonton soup and crab ragoons through Uber Eats, intending to provide comfort to my child, who is already suffering from a serious illness. What should have been a simple act of care turned into a horrifying experience that has left me both appalled and determined to seek justice. Upon serving the soup to my child, we discovered, after a single bite, the unmistakable presence of legs and a shell within the food. After careful examination, it was clear that the foreign object was a cockroach. This discovery was not only revolting but also a direct violation of basic health and safety standards. I am utterly devastated that my sick child, already vulnerable, was exposed to such unsanitary conditions through your food. For clarity, the meal was delivered directly to my home by an Uber Eats driver. I maintain a clean household, free of any pest issues, and have never encountered cockroaches in my home. The undeniable fact is that this contamination originated from your establishment, and I find it wholly unacceptable that such a grievous oversight could occur. This incident is not only a breach of trust but also a serious health hazard, particularly for a child already battling an illness. I am resolute in my intent to escalate this matter to the fullest extent permitted by law, including reporting this violation to the appropriate health authorities and pursuing any necessary legal recourse to ensure accountability. I demand an immediate explanation for how this contamination occurred, a formal apology, and a detailed account of the corrective measures your establishment will take to prevent such an egregious failure in the future. Additionally, I expect a compensation for the emotional distress and potential health risks inflicted upon my family. I await your prompt response within a reasonable timeframe, e.g., 7 business days to address this matter with the seriousness it warrants. Failure to respond adequately will compel me to take further action, including involving local health inspectors and legal counsel.
My response -update - Thank you for your response and your apology (lol) I understand your restaurant is regularly inspected by the health department but i encourage pest control services on the regular, as a small business owner myself i do understand how costly pest control services can be however the issue I experienced originated from the soup I ordered from your establishment. Regardless of how it occurred, this was deeply concerning. Since the order was prepared by your kitchen, I believe the responsibility lies with your team to address this matter directly, rather than redirecting me to Uber Eats, i will further adavance this matter. Read moreOften times, good quality Chinese food is hard to come by. This is due to the fact that there are so many you can go to, pretty much in any city. The usual end result? They all taste the same or similar. Panda Express doesn't count, just in case you were wondering. Sorry, that's a fast food joint. It's an OK one, but i'm not going to call their fare there "chinese food". But back to what I was saying, so many Chinese restos are just a dime a dozen. Vallejo is no exception, of course. Fortunately, good Chinese food can be found here that's not just the average sorta what you're used to type of dealy. China Wok happens to be one of those places.
A bit of a back story. China Wok wasn't always called China Wok from what I remember. It's located on Sacramento Street in Downtown Vallejo, where I spent 17 years of my life. I had only eaten at it's previous incarnation once, the night after we moved to our little apartment right up the street. I can't remember how it was. However, I can tell you that the food today is really good. People are so used to greasy dishes with salty fried rice or overly steamed white rice. Or at least, that's what may come to mind when they think of typical Chinese food. However, the opposite is the case here. Dishes are freshly cooked, not greasy at all, and well seasoned. Rice, fried or steamed, is prepared just right. Steamed veggies aren't a soggy mess, they still have a bit of bite to them. Food is given in a good amount as well, so they don't skimp on their serving sizes. This is just some feel good food right here.
Service is always friendly, quick, and always reliable. Orders are taken quickly and the food comes out just a few minutes later, even for a nice sized party. Prices are extremely reasonable as well, especially the lunch specials. I think I really only have one gripe that I can think of. Sometimes the floor has this odd... I dunno... stickiness maybe? It's definitely odd to the step, but not really all that off putting as you're not going to be walking around here all that much.
If you look hard enough, Vallejo has some nice little food gems. China Wok is definitely one of those places in my opinion. If you're ever feeling like some Chinese food and you're in the area, this place...
Read moreThis was Our first time here. We ordered like always to start a wonton soup, and about four other plates, they brought out the soup and the rest of the plate right away which was overwhelming because the table are small and we didn’t get to fully enjoy the soup at the rest of the main meal was getting cold. The food taste was great and the reason of my low rating is due to me finding a long hair in one of our dishes ( honey walnut shrimp) when I mentioned it to the younger short lady she brought out what it appeared to be the head chef’s whom was very nice. I personally couldn’t eat anymore as the hair touch my mouth so I asked for the plate of 75% food left was still there. The short lady decided to not only pick the hair off the plate, placed it on the table and said ( it’s yours it’s from your beard ) I then plucked a few hairs from my beard to show that my hair were not only thick and black . She insisted that it was mine! The main chef kept speaking to her in mandarin to calm herself down! I had to walked out and as great patrons we still paid the $64 dollar bill minus the hair dish. When my family came out my smart four year old said that the short lady pointed at them and said a word in mandarin perhaps suggesting to GET OUT! My son doesn’t know lies or make up things of that sort! I will definitely will forever stay away from this place and it’s too bad because we did like it but her attitude towards their own mistake is unforgivable and her last act of pointing to get out to my family is...
