Great beer, cool location! Wanted to dock a star for food but changed my mind... Just don't order the pretzel. If you've ever read blind mans bluff Mare Island Shipyard comes up a lot in the book and as a result I was super excited to see that there existed a brewery here. I was driving from Chico with the family back to the Monterey area and this was a good almost halfway stop. The location is super cool as already stated, definitely worth it to drive through to see all the old shipyard buildings and get out and walk around by drydock area to see the old drydocks and cranes. We got some beers and then ordered some food. Only tried the pretzel, chicken tenders and an order of fries. The chicken tenders and fries were good but we paid $10 and $2 more for "spicy queso" cheese for the smallest pretzel we have been served with a bowl full of nacho cheese almost larger than the pretzel. Pretzel was good but just tiny, been at places that served three of those for the same price. See the picture. Anyways, beer was good, avoid the pretzel and try some different food. Staff was...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have been here twice now and both times were great.
We’ve never run into a long line, at most 2-3 people in front of us and we’ve gone on a Saturday early afternoon/evening. Beers and food are ordered inside and you’re given a food buzzer to take with you. Once your buzzer goes off, you pick up your order at the food truck outside.
Picnic tables outside are clean but if you go too early in the afternoon, half of them are in the direct sun. They also have barstools facing the water for parties of 2-4 people. It would be nice if they had umbrellas for the tables further out or maybe some potted trees for shade. If there aren’t any open shaded tables, you have no choice but to sit in the sun or inside.
So far it’s just been us two that have visited but this would be a great space for larger parties.
There were also A LOT of kids running around, a few had scooters and skateboards since the area is all asphalt. Pets welcome too.
We’ll definitely be back but I’m hoping they shade the outside...
Read more3-8-25. Had the White Bull, wow what a beer; very nice. Like Toby Keith sang, "I Love This Bar". They service is provided by people with a great attitude and a great personality. The Shrimp Po Boy was excellent. Still an awesome experience. Great to sit outside and enjoy the sun, shade, water and breeze. I'll be there every week from now on. This was my first visit: What an awesome experience and place. The space is huge inside and out on the patio. I chose the outside on a clean shaded picnic table on a beautiful sunny day in Vallejo. Found this gem because of the Vallejo Waterfront Weekend. The beer, the Saginaw a Golden Ale, was fantastic; it was clean, crisp, enjoyable and calling for a second pint. My beer mistresses, Lauren, was just as pleasurable as the beer. She is knowledgeable about the beer. the beer making process and willing to share it with you as she shares her personality with a smile. Sorry can't vouch for the food but will be a frequent patron; hope to...
