Sol Y Sazon: The Best Mexican Food in the North Bay—Hands Down!
If you’re searching for the best Mexican food in the North Bay, look no further—Sol Y Sazon in Vallejo is the spot. I say this as someone who grew up in Santa Cruz, where good Mexican food is everywhere, and honestly, this place outshines every single one I can remember from down there too!
Sure, Vallejo has its fair share of Mexican restaurants, but let’s be real—some are just okay, and others (cough you know who you are) can be hit-or-miss. But Sol Y Sazon? Pure perfection. Every dish I’ve tried—whether it’s their sizzling fajitas, rich and tender tamales, perfectly sauced enchiladas, or the deeply flavorful steak ranchero—has been nothing short of amazing. You know that feeling when you take a bite and immediately start thinking about when you can have it again? Yeah, that’s every meal here.
I joke with my friends that I might be developing a Sol Y Sazon addiction because I find myself ordering delivery from them way too often. But when food is this good, can you blame me? And when I finally made it in person, the experience got even better. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and super attentive, making the meal feel just as warm and comforting as the food itself.
I don’t know what kind of sorcery is happening in their kitchen, but whatever they’re doing to make their food this flavorful and delicious—they should never change a thing. I’ll be coming back as often as I can, and if you haven’t been yet, trust me—you’re...
Read moreIf you’re craving authentic Mexican food that tastes like it came straight from abuela’s kitchen, this is the place to go. The menu is full of flavorful, home-style dishes, but the real stars here are the menudo and pozole. Both are absolutely delicious—rich, perfectly seasoned, and made with obvious care and tradition.
The menudo has that deep, comforting flavor that only comes from hours of slow cooking, and it’s served piping hot with all the fixings. The pozole is just as good—hearty, flavorful, and packed with tender hominy and juicy meat. Add some lime, radishes, and a little bit of their spicy salsa, and it’s perfection in a bowl.
The service is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re sitting down for a meal with family. It’s the kind of spot that makes you want to come back every weekend.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for real, soul-satisfying...
Read moreI received a call just minutes before the pick up time after paying $95 for several orders saying they didn't have carnitas or chile verde (3 of my orders had to be changed). They didn't offer any upgrades or any sort of compensation. When I arrived I was quizzed about my order and my receipt scrutinized. None of the other patrons in the restaurant were made to show their receipts. In addition to being treated like a criminal during pick up the food was NOT good. The al pastor Super Burrito had globs of cheese that were hard and unevenly distributed thru the burrito. The steak and chicken Super Burrito was small. Overall not the experience I was looking for. Definitely put a damper on Father's Day dinner. We will...
