It is easy to miss this locale as it is tucked away near an unassuming corner of the strip mall. Once inside, the shop is clean, uses the space well, and is easy to follow. They have well lit display cases that they must fill fresh every day. There flagship baked good however, is not on display(there are photographs on the walls). After my first bite of the señorita bread, It made sense why they do not actively showcase the star of their ensemble.
The señorita bread must undergo an accouchement that only an elite pâtissier is capable of. It arrives on the counter at baking temperature, well packaged, and breathing a bakeries aroma. The moment it touches your finger tips, the supple but fluffy composition jump starts your salivary glands. Its sweet buttery belly introduces you to a billowy body of what the best tasting bread should taste like. Don't be fooled a package of 10 for $4.00 will vanish into thin air, even if it is just a solo affair. 🤤
If you have been blessed with the opportunity to make it out to Honolulu, Hawaii... the Liliha Bakery Diner offers a butter roll with their entrées that tastes like a carbon copy of the Señorita Bread!

Read moreWhen my lovely wife suggested Starbread for a brunch snack, I was having doubts, as I've never heard of them before. She, however, works in Vallejo 5/days a week, so I should've known better. NOW I do, and it is the perfect spot for baked goods. Everything looks delicious and is made fresh in-store, but She introduced me to the "Senorita" bread first. A box of 30 runs $18, and is WELL worth the price. Light, airy, buttery, and sweet are the best words to describe this treat, and before I knew it, I had eaten 6 of the small loaves. The layer of sweet butter on the bottom was phenomenal, and I fell in love. After ordering some donuts, a few muffins, cookies, and a smattering of other bread, I left feeling I was prepared for the next few days of treats for after meals. WRONG!! If this shop were in my town of Chico, I'd gain well over 50+ lbs trying to taste it all. Fast service, hot bread, sweets for all...I recommend this to anybody, with ZERO flaws in the baking process. But then, Vallejoan's...
Read moreA quick, cheap, no-frills bakery that is part of a chain within California. This is the first Starbread location my husband and I have been to in some years (basically since the pandemic started). We were returning to SF after being out-of-town for a couple of days and we were excited to see this one located on the way, a short detour from the highway and with plenty of parking in the plaza. Their most popular (and delicious!) offering is the Señorita bread, bread rolls about the length of your hand with melted butter, sugar, and breadcrumbs, similar to many filipino baking recipes; although they do have other baked and wrapped goods as well. An easy visit in-and-out (I knew exactly what I wanted to get though) - the only challenge is figuring out how many to get lol, since they store well in a sealed container after the day...
