UPDATE FOR ELEPHANT THAI: Finally, a good thai restaurant replacement! I have gone to Elephant Thai 3x now since the new folks took over. Way better than the owners from my prior review for My Thai House. The wait was not long to be seated since they have a lot of table seating. Decor is great to look at but must be a lot to dust in a restaurant! Lol. The service is great, very attentive, nice people! I agree with other patrons that they should NOT place menus on the plates we are going to eat from, but I just ended up not using that plate! 😉 I've tried their version of drunken noodles, one of their coconut soups, egg rolls, and pineapple fried rice! All good! Since I'm writing this review after the fact of visiting, I didn't get any pics. I will he definitely be back, though! It's definitely worth trying!
This is no longer the MAYA thai house restaurant or the cooks they had! They took a few letters out of the name, and apparently the good tasting food, too! The pineapple fried rice used to be amazing here, but when I went when the ownership changed, the rice was more curry tasting than anything. I've never had completely yellow pineapple fried rice. I knew something wasn't right. I'm afraid to try anything else. We need a solid Thai place again here in Vallejo...I'll skip this spot now and drive out of town when I'm...
Read moreCame here last night. Everything was excellent. Arguably, it's a top restaurant in Vallejo/Benicia. Maybe the best overall.
The food was great. I think that garlic beef plate was the best tasting I've ever had. Wonton soup was top-notch, too. The presentation was excellent.
Thai Ice Tea was also surprisingly the best I've had. It may have been a little sweeter than I'd like, but it wasn't chalky like it usually has been at other places. Very good!
Service was also fantastic. I didn't get his name, but the waiter, who I think may have also been the owner, was almost always available, or if he was busy, another guy kept his eye on the floor. Finally, a restaurant that is attentive to their customers!
The atmosphere was nice. There was lots of neat stuff to look at. It's decorated well. I'm not too keen on what Thai culture is like... But it seemed homogeneous and genuine to me in comparison to the other dozen Thai places I've been. It's a nice restaurant. Most importantly, it's comfortable and very clean!
If I had to pick one thing to complain about... I guess I'd say the portion on the garlic beef could have been larger. It wasn't small, but I'm just a hungry 200 lb guy... so there's never enough. Especially when it's so good!
I will definitely...
Read moreBoth Appetizers we ordered on 12/04/2024 of fried Chicken wings and fried pork spare ribs all had pink under cooked meat at the bone. The server was told and was showed the pink meat. Instead of apologizing and offering to either comp the dishes since there were un eaten pieces, the server said nothing and walked away with the plates. The server was seen from a distance showing the owner the under cooked meat and again nothing was said to us. It was not until we were finished eating that the owner said a replacement fried chicken wings appetizer was coming out and is cooked this time. The pink meat on my fried spare ribs was displayed on the appetizer plate yet the server and owner ignored it and my ade me pay for it anyway. Now this restaurant can't be trusted since there was no quality control meaning our food was not temperature checked or checked before being served. The owner obviously can't swallow his pride and apologize and the serving staff could not do the same. We could have all gotten sick but instead we left paying for pink meat fried pork ribs and a paid replacement fried chicken wings appetizer. Money and pride just lost my business. Quality went down hill as the restaurant got busy. Take a risk if you eat there because we...
