Nekter Juice Bar — Restaurant in Valparaiso

Found a glimmer of shining sun between the 'bouts of snowing and storming, so I decided to swing into Nekter Juice Bar here in town and have myself up a nutrient-packed meal.

The interior, aided by the sunlight through the large front windows, was well lit and inviting, and had modern seating for those who choose to stay in and cool off while they eat. Not only was there a section for quick "grab and go" goods, but they also have a customer-facing freezer so "Order Ahead" options, such as through the mobile app, stay cold and fresh.

In terms of my actual order, I eventually settled on the Protein Power Bowl for a large burst of protein before my workout. Coconut flakes, strawberry, banana, cocoa nibs, vanilla protein powder, and their housemade cashew milk are blended together for the base. I'm vegan, so I subbed the traditional protein powder for the pea protein to make it a powerful plant-based meal. Topped with granola, peanut butter, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and their superfood blend, you will be hard-pressed to walk away from this hungry still. The blended smoothie base had a lovely tang that paired well with the sweeter notes of the peanut butter. The texture play between the granola and the smoothie base always is a treat as well, making it feel like a very dynamic meal for only being in a single bowl.

All in all, I think Nekter Juice Bar is an excellent addition to The Region, and I'm looking forward to stopping in...

In early January I ordered a protein power bowl as it was recommended on a bulletin board. Although I’m sure it was probably tasty I refused to eat it. This was because the person who prepared it for me had left a hair in the bowl. When I brought this up to them, they proceeded to remove the hair and say, “there you go”. I responded by saying that this is not acceptable. I asked for a refund or for them to remake my food and they said that I was overreacting. I will not accept this. First time stopping in. The female working was a tad cold. She asked if I wanted to add a booster to my PB Mocha, also ordered the Flamingo drink and an acai bowl as well as 2 of the I asked what they offered. She pointed at the menu on the counter and gave a mundane answer followed by "That's the best description I can give you". The male worker wore a smile and was personabl. Juices were ehhh. Kid had the same reaction about the acai bowl. Maybe because she passed her energy on to our purchase. Wasn't worth the price. I give 3 stars solely because the male worker was personable.
