I have been a loyal customer off and on for about 7 years. I actually stayed down the street from this place about 5 years ago at the sober living home and it was hands down my favorite place to go I have never had a bad experience there . Last night my wife and 3 kids wanted some good Chinese food and of course we came here food was great per usual of course the place could use some updating but I always figured that added character to these good places as long as they keep clean I could care less. Food came out quick hot ready and fresh. As we’re finishing up i started organizing the plates and mess that was made this is something I was raised to do at any restaurant we went to as a kid and is something i teach my kids . This outing was my wife’s treat after she paid the main lady whom usually at the cash register and serves food made a comment to my wife ā€œI didn’t charge you tipā€ My first thought was she wasn’t wanting a tip mind you I believe in tipping for good service and it was pretty good but again I didn’t pay my wife did now my wife doesn’t usually tip. So the lady said again I didn’t charge for tip and that’s when I realized what she was getting to . She was asking for a tip since my wife didn’t with confusion and frustration I asked my wife ohh you didn’t tip . The lady then began to say ā€œwe work for tip you know ā€œ my wife was handed her receipt to tip after rudely being asked for one . Now this rubbed me the wrong way I then went back in and said we’re are not obligated to tip . and that it wasn’t nice to ask for one she then began to explain to the best of her ability that it’s what they work for and I quickly said I’ve been coming here for 7 years I’ve always tipped weather it’s take out or dine in. and even so I think it was rude to peer pressure your customers with an attitude about a tip . This was at 7:51 9/16 right before they closed . and there was one other family there you would think that the one time you don’t tip it wouldn’t be a big deal but again I do believe if your able to go out and buy food you should be able to tip if the service good and the food is good which it was BUT you should never be asked for one like that. This will be my last time going there unfortunately i take pride in what restaurants do and i appreciate the work they do but never have I had this happen before . I’m sure she will remember me when she reads this Im 7 years sober with face tattoos and a big family thank you for the great food over the years . ē²—éÆåœ°č¦å°č²»ę˜Æäøē¦®č²Œēš„怂

We were looking for some hunan chicken, and this place was highly suggested in our Google search. We ordered potstickers, chicken chow mein, general tsos chicken, hunan chicken, szechuan chicken, and extra steamed rice. I went inside to place my order. No time frame was given. I was just advised that they would call me on the phone when the order was ready. Within 15 minutes, I got a call stating the food was ready for pick up. I went inside, and the lady stated that they had given us mar far chicken on the house. I can say that I was very satisfied with the hunan and szechuan chicken with the steamed rice. They were both nice and spicy. My mother-in-law enjoyed the mar far and potstickers. The two biggest things that were absolutely not a hit were the chicken chow mein and the general tsos chicken. My swears he won't ever go there again. However, I would continue to give this place a chance as the food items I had ordered for myself turned out exactly as I wanted. So I would definitely recommend this place if you love spice.

I have lived in Vancouver for just over 10 years now and I have always had great Chinese food at House of Beijing. Yeah it’s not the most stylish and up to date restaurants for decor. The people there are hard workers and the food is plenty and good prices.I went in on January 2 2023 and I have to tell you I was disgusted what Ā I saw. We were eating in and the lady said ā€œgive me one moment to clean a tableā€. I looked into the dining room and the four tables in the middle had dirty dishes and cups and silverware and plates with good still piled on them stacked all over the table top. I then looked at two empty booths and the same, plates with food and bowls with soup in them and glasses and silverware on the table top.The waitress went to our booth and just moved all the plates and glasses to the table that was across from our booth.Ā Then more people came in and wanted the same thing, the waitress took the dirty plates and glass and silverware to another table piling up. This happened two more times.

We read tons of positive reviews, and we have been trying to find a good Chinese place in Vancouver. Tough right? But this place had been listed as the Clark county best a couple years ago, so why not.

My first thought as we pulled up was concerning as the building looks run down. Inside wasn't much better as they have added wiring for cameras and lights that are stapled to the wall or ceiling. But, I wanted to keep an open mind. We were already there.

The menu had a decent selection and the prices were very reasonable. My wife and I got the family feast for two. When we said which appetizer we wanted the waiter let us know that the feast comes with all appetizers listed. Pleasant surprise.... ok!

We started noticing people's plates coming out with food piled high on them and I was starting to get concerned of how much food we were going to get. When the appetizer showed up, there was enough for a meal for both of us. The meal was even more! Two large plates piled high with the entree, and another full plate with rice. I did order for two.... right?

The food was pretty good. It wasn't the best Chinese that I've tasted, but good. There was a lot of it though. The staff was very nice, and the food came out pretty quick.

So in the end, don't judge a book by it's cover. Looks run down, but the food is good, plenty of it at a great price. If they could spruce the place up, they would...

My dad really likes this place so I often come here with him when I'm in the 'Couve. It's really quite good standard American-style Chinese food. Very flavorful, with just the right level of spice. I usually get General Tso's chicken (yeah, I'm that basic) which has a perfect level of kick (a lot of times General Tso's is just sweet, with no heat). My dad usually gets Chop Suey, which a lot of Chinese places don't even have on the menu anymore. Our meals here are always satisfying. Oh, and usually I can't even eat the egg-flower soup at most Chinese places, it's just gooey and oleaginous and gross. Here, I like it. It actually tastes chicken-y.

The service can be a bit slow sometimes, but the staff is always friendly and efficient, and they keep your water and tea topped up. We usually go for lunch (they have nice lunch specials) but we were recently there for dinner and it was pretty packed, so clearly a neighborhood favorite.

As far as atmosphere, they're not the newest or fanciest, but don't let that turn you off. Everything that needs to be clean and functional is clean and functional, what else do you want?

Their prices have increased a slight bit (like everyone) but their portion sizes are good so I'd say they're still very affordable.

Overall a very solid place to get decent, old-fashioned American-style Chinese food....
